A frequent visitor to the wdwmagic.com forums died on Friday after being on the newly refurbished Spaceship Earth attraction at the Epcot theme park.

The man, who had been disgruntled with the lack of content in the descent portion of the ride had killed himself in a fit of anger while on the ride.

Disney officials said that "although he was unhappy with the ending, the touch screen still worked perfectly, producing a comical and somewhat grisly image of the future."

The ride will be cleaned and reopened tomorrow as most casual guests see nothing wrong with the current ending.

Hmm..

This just in, long time wdw magic fourm member "MERF" is tossed out of disney, after chaining himself to the SSE icon. He was last seen being escorted by disney secuirty wearing a T-Shirt that reads "Save SSE!"

That any better?

I walked around the aquarium a few times on my past trip. It was seriously deserted, nobody really wanted to look at the displays.

I honestly think that when we lose Illuminations Reflections of Earth, its all over. Consider Epcot to be an entirely different animal from its childhood. Hey, at least we've still got the American Adventure right?

Just wait until they ruin World Showcase and all the countries with the Kim Possible interactive sight gags!!

I still wouldn't say they are completely done. They have got it to a point where they feel is suitable to say its "open" to guests, and I bet that is more for the enormous crowds coming for the next two weeks more than anything.

SSE is an extremely high capacity ride, and the more people they can get on during peak season, the better.

My guess is, through January, it will either be considered "closed" again, or we will continue to see small improvements here and there like the Laugh Floor until Februrary. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything spectacular, but the February version will probably be at least semi-respectable.

I really don't think they will use her since its a dieing show... that is barely on... I think its just being called that now because that what they used during the test run to get kids attention.... they could be easly making this part of the kidscot thing to get the kids more excited about the World Showcase.... :shrug:

I loved the lighting on the descent - the effect looks great. The touchscreen is what it is, advertising for Siemen's. Frankly if that is what it takes to get a corporation to refurb an attraction that was falling apart, then all the power to WDW. That was always the intent behind Epcot anyway -- that corporations would sponsor and pay for each attraction. No complaints from me.[/quote]

I thought compliance was what stopped jerking from movement, like the ability to overshoot and return to the desired point naturally-looking.

The telegraph man went to a position (like his upper torso was the moving part) and he stopped or tried to stop too suddenly, too jerky, and that caused him to shudder back and forth for few seconds until he settled. If he had whatever-the-term-is i'm thinking of, he'd have overshot, then returned in a natural looking manner instead of hitting the point hard an dhaving the excess energy cause him to shudder.

Usually, if a figure is shaking or shuddering then it is a feedback problem, not always, but most of the time. Unless they have the gain turned up too high. but it could be mechanical problems also like a sticky valve or something.

Compliance does help a figure become more life-like, but there is only a couple of figures at Epcot that use compliance like a couple over at AA or Ellen.

All figures at SSE just use position feedback to maintain the correct position or movement.
