First let me start by saying congrats to all out here with proposals, weddings and honeymoons. We are getting ready(a year from now) to hit the 20 year mark and i am thinking of vow renewal at Disney. We did not have a wedding the first time around (work in the am, quick JP in the afternoon and birthing class with ice cream after and back to work the next day) and i think it would be awesome to have a disney wedding. I'm thinking very low key and casual. Anniverisary for 20th will be Aug 2011 but was thinking so doing this mid Dec or early Jan 2012. Did 18th last August and will back thus August for 19th. Timing is hard with one in college (yes the one we went to birthing class for, haha) and one still in high school (class of 2012). This is not something i would do at home....only at Disney if we do it. Any input would be great! Thanks all!! :)

Hi, I am thinking of renewing my vows in WDW as well but for our 10 year mark. Always wanted a Disney wedding but ........ oh well.

I don't have any input but need some as well. Want something very low key too. I think the most inexpensive wedding is $5,000 which is bare bones. I know you can make an appointment to speak with a wedding consultant there.

I will pass on any info I get to you if you can do the same for me, that would be great!

Congratulations on your anniversary! I was just engaged at the World in May and we decided on a Disney Wedding too. The cost of weddings/vow renewals at the World was too much for us, so we decided to go with the Disney Cruise Line. On-board weddings/vow renewals are $2500 and $3500 for Castaway Cay. If you like cruising I think you should check it out- the price includes the ceremony, cake and champagne, dinner for 2 at Palo, plus some extras like concierge service, on-board credit, formal wear steaming, and a few other things. You can add additional people to your dinner for about $15 per person- but Palo is adults only so only people 18 and over can attend the dinner. I don't know if this would work for you since your kids are still in school, but the price of the cruise+ceremony is about the same as just a ceremony at WDW, and with the cruise you'll get a second honeymoon as well. Best of luck to you!

I have put some thought into this option. DH and I have only done 1 cruise...I WON it and the DD have not been yet. The price does sound much better...could take the 4 of on a crusie for what just the vow renewal would cost at the World. The only thing that stops me is timing...I am thinking it would be much harder to pick a time frame when no one was missing too much school..and kind of had my mind set on Dinsey at Christmas for this special event:xmas: . But who knows....DREAMS!!!!! Thanks very much for the imput and we would love to hear all about your wedding and see pictures. When are you getting married???

I got married at WDW in 2006 and it was wonderful. I would start talking to a wedding coordinator at Disney as soon as possible even if you don't book for awhile it is never too early to start looking at packages.

We went with one of the standard small wedding packages and it was amazing. You can really go crazy and spend a fortune, but for what we got the smaller package was an outstanding value.

We also had a dinner reception at the Yachtsman's Steakhouse. It was great and if you contact the restaurants directly the managers can really do awesome things. I would personally go this route again rather than do a reception in a conference room.

I'd also recommend the YS for its location, quiet atmosphere, and menu. It was a crowd pleaser.

I am thinking of talking with someone durning our upcoming trip (49 days). Depending on how many friends/family choose to join will help us choose a location. WL would be our first choice with 8 or les guests. (our home aways from home) YC would be our next chocie for more people. I was actual thinking of something at Ragland Road for dinner. But we do love The Yachtsman Steak House..we eat there almost every trip and would not be upset with this as a dinner spot.

congratulations! i was in a similar situation when i first got married so my husband and i have talked about doing a vow renewal at wdw as well. we are not quite at point to start calling planners or putting down deposits since we're just celebrating 16 years at the end of this month. since we know what it's like to to disney in the summer we also plan to do ours in the late fall/winter months rather than on our actual anniversary date. no matter what you do i'm sure you'll have a great experience.

We want to renew next summer. Today is actually 9 years. It would only be me and the hubby and our children. So I was thinking a quiet renewal on the beach at the Poly over looking the castle. Then a private dinner aferwards at Narcoossee or Cali Grille. I just didn't want to pay $2,500 just for a 10 min ceremony on the beach. Would Disney allow me to hire an outside justice of the peace?

Since I posted this lots has changed, for the good, and now I am thinking of not doing it at all or may be just us and the kids also.....and i was thinking the same thing about the $$$$ way to much to spend with our new venture. (we are getting into the cake making business). I am still going to try to look into things while there next month so i will report back if i get any helpful info.

To do anything through Disney you will usually need to go with their services. From mouseweddings.com
The officiant is not included in the package and must be separately booked by the couple. Disney will provide a list of "preferred" officiants. If you choose to use your own officiant (not someone from the "preferred" list), that person will be added to your guest count.

Alternatively you may be able to do something with the Swan or Dolphin as they will gladly host functions, and can still do Disney things like book characters.

If you are being a complete rebel, I have heard of people who got an officiant, went with their friends/family into the park, circled around the officiant and the couple, had a quick unsanctioned ceremony, and then went on their way. If you do something small and quick, then you can probably get away with it. In your hotel room, on a beach, etc. As long as you aren't wearing clothing that looks out of place (no tux and gown unless at V&A's) you can probably get away with it. So 4 of you, plus a JP, yeah, you can probably swing it, maybe even in park if you are daring. But if you want anything from Disney, photos, cake, etc, you may have to go the legal route.

I am wanting to do the same exact thing as you----- how could they possible charge us big bucks for something so small - that we could almost do on our own?

That's what I thought. I would just walk to the beach in a short white dress, hubby with linen shorts/shirts and my 2 boys the same. Then the justice of the peace could do their thing for a short few minutes and off we go to the restaurant. So no cost except for the Justice and the romantic family dinner afterwards...sounds doable, right? Maybe I can get a bystander to take pictures. I was toying with having a Disney wedding but chose my big dream wedding at home. So this is my other dream I want to do for my 10th.:)

Looking to plan a beautiful vow renewal for my wife and I. Was wondering how you would go about booking a night at the castle as a romantic honeymoon....

We had our 10 year vow renewal this past November while on the Disney Cruise ship, Magic. You can either choose to have it on the beach @ Castaway Cay or on the rear of the ship, Deck 7 - it's usually a quiet sunbathing spot but for special occasions they transform it into a nice ceremony area.

If you do decide to do this via DCL, please book very, very early. Our coorodinator informed us that they only schedule a limited amount of ceremonies per outing. We chose to have it on board and the Captain performed the ceremony. Our son was my best man and our daughter was our flower girl.

The wedding coordinator meets with you in your cabin soon after you set sail (a day or two) to verify everything and will be there during the entire ceremony to ensure things go smoothly.

be VERY discrete. if an employee notices what you're doing they'll break it up.

Ayup. If you plan it properly, and don't do anything fancy, you should be ok. I.E. don't have your husband and the JoP standing waiting, have them sitting at a table talking, etc and then get up when you walk over to join them. Something like that.

Just so all know..I will not be able to give any info on this like i said i would. Since i posted this we have a started a small cake business and while on our last trip we decided to just go all out on a trip next year instead. So we will not be doing the renewal...and I am 100% ok with it. We will doing 6 days at the Boardwalk Inn and 4 days on a crusie. Got free dinning again for next year and have a year to get it all paid for. So good luck to all of you that are still planning and researching how it works out just how you wish!!!!!
