VMK is back!?

So I was wrong with something I posted earlier. The files HAVE reached two people and their computers were infected. However, the staff say that the files have not reached anyone else, and you are no longer in danger. Sounds like Amy wasn't the most ethical person... and the problems people had on Macs were "suspicious" too.

Update: The "malicious" files that Amy has planted into the game were not harmful (and probably did not exist). The game is rumored to resume later today.

Hmm... wonder what the real story is. I know there have been clashing interests between Amy and several other staff members. If they can do what Amy was doing, I'd say just leave Amy out of the picture. She was way too disorganized IMO. Sounds like they might try to regain peace with Amy:

At this time we are working through any issues that may exist and hope to bring back peace and harmony soon.

Should be interesting to see how things go along in the near future.

Hopefully we get answers soon. They probably shouldn't have said anything in the first place until they were 100% sure that there were suspicious files.

I feel like the game is being run by 12 year olds. If you let Amy go, great. You don't need to explain yourself to the guests. State that you're experiencing technical issues, the game may be closed for x amount of time and your team is working on it.
Way to call out someone you let go. I wouldn't want to help out OVMK.

If there was a security problem, I would want to know as a player. They didn't really call her out. They just said Amy was let go and is no longer on the team. Then they explained the suspicious files and the issues with two players' computers. They never directly blamed Amy, that was more speculation by players.

It's all about perception, they didn't have to tell us Amy was let go. It looks like it's her fault when you say the game is closed for security reasons and oh by the way we let someone go. It looks bad.
Keep it simple. There's been a possible security threat (or whatever the issue was) the game will remain closed until we have located and rectified the situation. Sorry for any inconveniences, please check back here for further updates. Thank you for patience and understanding.

Boom. Done.

Except people would find out that Amy was gone sooner or later. Amy was a very active person on both the game and forums. No matter what, people would put two and two together. I'd rather have the staff tell the truth than make it seem like they're trying to hide it.

If it were another place (like a business), you'd know when someone important was fired.

A business would never say that in a press release (essentially what was posted on their site). If people are going to speculate and find out someone was let go, let THEM do that. That's not the company's place. Granted, this is a game not a company.
If a company doesn't mention that they let someone go it isn't because they're hiding something, it's simply because it's none of your business. Even if you do figure it out on your own, it's not the company telling you. It looks better. They don't owe you anything other than an apology and that they are working to resolve the issue.

Keep everything that happens behind the scenes...behind the scenes.

But it was the people speculating. The OVMK Staff announced that there were suspicious files, and they also announced staff changes. Could it have been posted in a better way? Of course, a lot of things could go better than they actually did.

Regardless, it is what it is. It's a bunch of young adults (and I believe some high school students, but don't quote me on that) operating a game. I wish things would've been handled better in several instances, but I know there's nothing I can really do about it.

Update: Amy has posted a video on YouTube and Twitch explaining her side of the story. She claims that all of the other administrators all of a sudden "turned against her" and that she would never plant a virus into the game. She also specifically pointed out Grace out of all the administrators.

There was also an explosion of threads and posts in the OVMK forums regarding Amy, all of which have been closed. They even disabled the shout box to prevent any word about Amy.

The game itself is said to be online as of last night.

EDIT: The game and forums are down. I don't know if it's just my computer.

These are my own thoughts and by no means factual:

The staff (other than Amy, of course) didn't like the way Amy was running things (and let's be honest, it wasn't organized at all), and they were growing tired of her. Once they found another team they dropped Amy and explained it by saying there were malicious files that Amy used.

Amy was good at developing the game, but she was definitely doing it in a very confusing and unorganized way. Examples would be the code fiasco, the Blue Stitch Hat release, etc. But Grace and the rest of the team could have definitely handled it better.

That's just my opinion based on the information I've gathered.

Yeah @PUSH I agree 100%

I get my news from the forums. Can't tell anything, but I'm suspicious about the whole thing. The forums state that they are down due to "issues" they found. Yeah, I'm sure...

The only thing that I can think of that would have any sort of announcements would be Amy's YouTube video. The comments on there are all bashing Grace, but the comments on the forums all bashed Amy. I think people just believe whatever is told to them.

Some first-hand experience with a new staff member Jared (Oatman). I kind of, sort of talked to him about Amy before she was "fired". He didn't sound like he had anything against Amy. He said that she's really, really smart, but the giveaway on the livestreams could have been handled a lot better with a lot easier method. I believe he sent Amy a message about that. Just some first-hand experience... nothing really applying directly to the situation, but I thought I'd share.
