HI guys,

I am a first time poster so please be gentle with me,

My family and I are looking to come over from the UK around 19th August for two weeks, there will be 9 of us in total (4 adults & 5 kids) but we wanted t know about queues, temperature and crowd level for this time.

We have heard lots of different things but wanted to get a clearer idea from someone who knows more.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome Aboard!

August is fine,we always go in July, school hols and cheapest package, but in 2008 we were last week in July, first week in August,no difference in weather or crowds. We've done WDW twice during July 4th,if we can survive that then everything else is a doddle.I take it your staying onsite,if so remember the early bird catches the worm,in other words, hit the parks during EMH.

We have been for the past 3 years at this exact time frame. So I know first hand. (we will not be there this year...youngest starts college and will not work for us so have to wait for Christmas break) I will not lie it will be HOT all day and into the evening. But the crowds are very do able. The longest line we normal see is maybe 30-40 wait time for the most popular rides. Everything eles is more like 10-15 if not walk on. Other than being HOT it will rain most every afternoon for 15 - 20 minutes. You may come see a thunder storm or 2 but they also will not last long either. What I suggest to get up and out in the early am before the sun get up and really hot. Plan to take breaks in the afternoon and head back for pool and naps. Then head back out in the evening. I would make it a point to take in all the show inside to keep cool. Show are a great way to cool down and this will keep you from overheating. Also skip the sodas and drink lots of water. Hope this helps and have an awesome trip!!!

I just booked my trip for August 18-25, which is the same week we went last summer. It's very hot (but we're used to the heat, so it didn't bother us) and there will likely be a short rain shower in the afternoon. According to Touring Plans, the crowds will be at a 9 around the 18th and 19th, but then school starts back in Florida, so they will fall to the 5-7 range after that, so you are picking a good time to go! Like real mad hatter said, definitely take advantage of EMH!

It's hot and humid...but it's August in Florida so it's not really any different than what we have in June, July, and September. With that said that last two weeks are a better choice as our kids are back in school here in Florida. The parks are still open really late with emh so it can be a good time of year to really squeeze a lot out of your trip if you have the stamina. When we go at that time of year we go to the parks from opening until about 1-2pm then go back to the resort and realax or swim (cool off/recharge), clean up and have a nice dinner then back to the parks until late closing. Expect to still have the daily afternoon thunderstorms (normal summer so just be prepared for it). Have a great trip!

You will probably see a lot of Star Wars fans there starting around the 20th. The reason is that they are holding Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando from August 23rd - 26th and I know I will be coming down that week to hit the parks and the Celebration. A lot of Star Wars fans are hoping that they do something similar to what they did in 2010 when they had a special Star Wars event at Hollywood Studios which was amazing.
