Ive been do disney three times, this will be my 4th trrip (1st trip, and 2nd for my travel buddies). Ive never seen any resorts besides the ones ive stayed at (CBR, Music, Movies). Im considering doing breakfast at chef mickeys a meal at wilderness lodge so that way i see two other resorts, but is it worth it to go over to the boardwalk to look around? Whats over there, gift shops? Maybe just go for an ice cream at beaches and cream?

I think the Boardwalk is fun, mostly shops and places to eat. I have not actually tried any of the snack foods over there (like at the bakery and food carts) because we are usually going for a meal. I like going in the eveings because there are usualy jugglers and other performers there. I have not noticed them there during the afternoon hours.

Absolutely, go out the EPCOT International entrance/exit and walk around the lake. Take in Beaches and Cream, walk through the Beach and Yacht Clubs, check out the stores (you can even walk to MGM, oops Hollywood Studios if you want to park hop). A whole new area if you haven't been before; but highly recommended.

during the evenings...say between 6 and 10pm they have street entertainers out on the Boardwalk side of the lagoon. Usually a magician, a mime, a bike-riding/piano player, a one man band....stuff like that...but it's every night if the weather is good, and they always include bystanders in their acts. I go over to the Boardwalk for an evening about 4 or 5 times a year when not staying overnight at disney.

Visiting Boardwalk for afternoon

Hi Everyone! First Post!

Absolutely visiting boardwalk is worth it. One of my favorites. But I agree with other poster that I prefer to go at night when there are more things going on. Flying Fish is one of the best restaurants in WDW. Spoodles is also good. Dueling Pianos is great fun or you can just stroll the boardwalk and take in the atmosphere, shop a little or grab a snack. Whenever you decide to go however I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Don't Miss

The Boardwalk Resort is great, be sure to go into the hotel lobby and look around. It's beautifuly furnished from top to bottom. To the left (or right depending on where you come in) of the lobby, there is a library/game room where cocktails are surved after 5 pm. I can't recall the name, but you can't miss it. It's a great little quiet spot where you and your friends can sit and have an evening drink. Maybe even meet some new people and play a few old games like Shutes and Ladders, or Battleship.

I agree - the Boardwalk is great. Many good restaurants - Flying Fish and Spoodles are a little more upscale and Big River Grille and the ESPN Club are more casual fare. Evenings are fun with the street performers, and during the daytime you can stroll and enjoy the view.

Btw, I think the pizza from Spoodles (Pizza Window) is delicious and a great meal value.

You can also rent a surrey bike and ride around the lake. We did that once, and had a lot of fun, even though we had to have some nice strangers push us up a hill. We had to rent a 6-seater, because we had 5 people, but two of my siblings were too short to pedal, haha.
I'm also a big fan of Jellyroll's. That's more of an evening than afternoon place, but I absolutely adore that place. I'm not a fan of loud bars or dance clubs, so I like to hang out there and sing along to the piano music. They have some incredibly talented pianists on staff there. They play mostly rock'n'roll songs, but do a little pop music, and I've heard them do "Gangster's Paradise" before too.

We spent a couple afternoon hours on the Boardwalk for the first time in December, and liked it so much we went again the next night. We were @ DTD and caught one of the Boardwalk buses, walked thru the resort (beautiful), all the way around the lake then caught one of the boats back to Epcot. Made for a very relaxing time.

Ok now I am craving some Beaches and Cream chicken noodle soup!!! We visited the boardwalk area for the first time on our last trip, and liked it more that Downtown Disney. We ate at Beaches and Cream twice in four days!!!

Your also at the Swan and Dolphin. You can check out two more resorts....and they are worth checking out. I went last Oct for my first time to the Boardwalk, and its really cool, kinda wish I would have gone more towards the evening hours, but there are all kinds of shops and stuff to see. Lots of fun.
