Visit in January... or April?

Hi Everyone!

We are in the process of planning a trip for 2011. A bit of a ways off, we know. We have been in January in the past and it is always the least crowded of any other time we have visited throughout the year. Is it still this way, or have more people found out about this time of year?

Then we got to thinking about April, right after spring break but before summer vaction. We have talked to a few people who have gone during this time this year and said the parks were almost empty!

I guess I would feel a little safer about January, specifically the very end and the very start of February, but it has been so long since we went then we don't know if it is still a great time to go. And we have never been during the spring or summer months, so we don't want to make the wrong decision about what days. I have also checked touringplans.com and sorta have an idea of crowds but want the 'experts' opinions!

So I guess my question is, what would you reccomend?:veryconfu

Thanks!

A lot depends on when Easter falls. In 2011 Easter is April 24th, which means many schools will have their spring breaks right around that time. Here in New England, Spring Break is usually around the 3rd week of April for public schools, so that combination could mean big crowds at that time. I agree with the beginning of May - the weather is great, and the crowds are not bad, and its Flower and Garden Show time!

I'd recommend January. Been there in April and May. Both were hot and busy. All the times we've been in January and February, it hasn't been busy. Another great time to go was right after Thanksgiving and the first 2 weeks in December. We LOVE that time of year. Cooler temps, Christmas decorations and hardly no lines.

More of a chance to get hotter and more humid weather in April, and you always run the risk of spring break crowds. On the other hand, Flower and Garden Festival is beautiful.

I would always pick January although this does mean one water park will be closed, park hours might be shorter and there is a risk of colder weather (but less rain though!).

April is nice if you get a good week - get a bad one and it's suddenly very busy!

I'd say January. I know our spring break this year is March 29-April 2 here on the Space Coast. Usually our spring break starts the season and the crowds just build from there until May. Then they build right back b/c of summer season.

I have gone both times. April 2007 (last week), and Jan 2008 (last week).
The weather was cooler in January especially at night (some nights it dipped down to the low 40's). The days were spectacular 70's - low 80's. We even did typhoon lagoon one day and it was great (around 80 and sunny). Virtually no humidity. We only had 1 cool day but it was overcast.
April was hot (mid to high 80's and in the sun it felt worse). Some days were a bit humid. The nights were mild (60's). We didn't get much rain. The crowds were a bit heavier in April even though it was a couple of weeks after Easter.
I prefer January but, that's because I am not fond of the heat.

Spring Break is different for so many places, but you could have trouble with it in April, since Easter is in late April. I'm there every March, and spring break crowds are crazy. When Easter is in March, it's even worse. I think anytime in April could still be crowded.

January all the way! :)

I agree that January would be the best bet. The weather will be cooler, the crowds thinner, and the price should be a bit cheaper. But the park hours will be a little shorter too. But with so many schools across the country having spring break at all different times during March and April plus College Spring breaks, April can tend to get a bit crowded.
