right...

Gauntlet Challenge Two:
Create a new park original character to place somewhere not in an attraction (think SMRT-1, Orange Bird, Sonny Eclipse, PUSH, etc.)

D.J. Mixnut

Horizons_Butler_Robot.jpg

The robot Audio-Animatronics in Horizons, such as this butler, provide a solid point of reference for [BS]DL's Tomorrowland robot characters, including D.J.
Entertaining guests in the Starlite Diner at [Blue Sky] Disneyland is D.J. Mixnut, who provides the music at his mini mixing studio. His mixtape of favorite showtunes includes such gems as a rollicking love song about the moon in the month of June and songs written for the lost legends of 1980s EPCOT.
Gauntlet Challenge Three:
Design your dream dark ride (It can be busbar, trackless, boat-based, whatever, just has to be a dark ride.)[/CENTER]

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Alice-in-wonderland-disneyscreencaps.com-3341.jpg
What lies beyond the looking glass...? You can find out when you visit [Blue Sky] Disneyland!

Aboard oversized chess pieces which seem to have a curious mind all their own, guests wander this way and that through a garden where the flowers and plants seem to be as big as you (and can talk and sing), trek through Tulgey Wood in search of the Jabberwocky, get into a spin trying to make sense of the Cheshire Cat’s ever-changing directions, and finally stumble upon the Red Queen’s fortress, where a frenetic, life-sized game of chess is about to commence. Who will win? No one knows...making the trip through this Wonderland curiouser and curiouser!

Contrary to what the title may lead you to believe, Through the Looking Glass takes more from the visual style of the original 1951 Alice in Wonderland film, and is an E-ticket trackless dark ride filled to the brim with detailed (mostly) physical sets, full AA figures, and special effects.

I think it's a real testament to how strong everyone is that even as rankings keep coming in there's not a crazy clear pattern forming and multiple people are going "well, in my mind these two tied so I used this or that as a tie breaker." I have no idea who the top two might be, but I do know it's going to be very very very close

Results are in, all of the sinister six have voted and I did not need to break any ties, so we officially have our final eight.

@WaltWiz1901

With a score of 6 out of a possible 24, Wiz unfortunately will not be carrying on. While you’ve played an amazing game, the main issue was the lack of a submission on the first of the gauntlet challenges. Still, you made it to the top 10 so amazing work! Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again.

@tcool123

This on was closer, with a score of 16 out of a possible 24 points. Tcool has played an amazing game from being our first MVP to contributing some amazing stuff. Towards the end of the game life happened and I empathize but you still managed to knock out some great submissions. However, you were just edged out of the top eight. Thank you for playing!

That means advancing into our semi-finals we have…

@Lizzy May Bee

With a score of 19 out of a possible 24, Lizzy was the dark horse who came out swinging with a very interesting project theming it all together and tackling a queue that didn’t necessarily need a redo, but in the eyes of the Sinister Six, you earned your spot. Congratulations!

@Lord Fozzinator

I’ll say you fully redeemed yourself from two rounds ago and in the eyes of the Sinister Six, that was true as well. You were in the top two for all but one of the rankings and with a total of 20 out of a possible 24 you edged Lizzy out and took the top spot. Great work and well earned!

Well folks, with that we have our final eight and enter the semi-finals round. I am at work but project will be posted sometime in the evening when I’m home. Great work everyone!

was a bit pressed for time when putting together my submissions and couldn't think of one for the first challenge under such short notice, so apologies on that front. still, I'm glad to have participated and will gladly sign up for the next Imagineering game I see!

wishing the finalists the best of luck, too

Challenge Thirteen: Staycation

For my family, one day of the trip almost always has to be a resort day. I've never been a fan because I'm a "must look at every bird in the Maharajah Jungle Trek aviary" type of guy, but my mother, aunt and sister love a pool day, my dad and uncle and grandpa love to take some time on the golf course, my grandma and niece love doing tea parties or whatever other events happen, and even my partner just likes to wander around and see the resort. We've done them all too thanks to my parents' DVC membership, we've stayed at every major resort and also because of my zookeeper salary, I've stayed at the value resorts too.

While to me a hotel is a room to sleep between park hours, to others it's just as important a part of the vacation. That's why I issue this challenge...

Prompt: Design a new themed deluxe hotel for the Walt Disney World resort.

Deluxe being something grand, expensive, highly themed, probably with some special stuff like a neat pool, character dining, bars, etc.

The theme is up to you but keep in mind most of the deluxe resorts are not IP-based besides maybe a few small touches. For those not in the know, here are the list of deluxe resorts already.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Grand Floridian, Disney's Boardwalk Inn, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Yacht Club, Disney's Beach Club, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Riviera Resort.

Project is due Monday, October 20th at 11:59 PST (2:59 AM EST)

TEAM MAGIC REVIEW:
Right from the beginning, y'all are amazing me with your intro explaining the core concepts of this place! I love how y'all explain time travel and the clock motif.

TIMELAND: I am a huge fan of Celestial Park in Epic Universe and its core concept/initiative of ā€œputting the park back into theme parkā€. @tcool123, I believe that you really did an amazing job of bringing that concept of a park within a theme park to WDW.

EPOCHS: I really like this show and how it integrates the different time periods to tell one story. @MickeyMousketeer, for my first comp with you on a team, I simply must admit that you did amazing!

LIANYUN VALLEY: @AceAstro, where do I even begin with this amazing piece of work? I mean, it's like a Fantasyland based on Chinese folklore and I love it. Rise Of The Jade Dragon sounds like one of the few coasters I'd be able to ride without getting 100% scared because I'd be surrounded by the beauty of a Chinese aesthetic. Journey Of The Monkey King is a great adaptation of Journey To The West, one of the greatest pieces of classical literature in the world IMHO (It was even my favorite book when I was in 9th grade), even if it’s only based on one chapter of a much larger narrative. Lotus Lake Lanterns is a nice attraction to add some kinetic energy to the land as you walk through. The shop and restaurant are also amazing.

CROSSROADS CITY: @Outbound, this might be the most interesting land in the whole park because it's set in the Islamic world, an underutilized setting with a rich history and culture to pull from. Setting the land during the Abbasid Caliphate is a very good move because said caliphate, as you pointed out, was known for their tolerance for people of different cultures, which can also bee seen in many other medieval caliphates. The New City feels like a beautiful area with lovely attractions, shows, and even a restaurant based on Aladdin. A Whole New World is an amazing ride based on one of my childhood favorite scenes. The Baghdad Bazaar feels like a lovely place to explore and enjoy shows in. The Learning District is a great place. I especially enjoy the House of Wisdom show/queue and the Algebra Road coaster, which somehow makes literal algebra an amusing experience! The Garden/Palace is also beautiful.

BRANMERE: @Lord Fozzinator, this land is quite the interesting location. This land, set in 1700s Britain, is a beautiful mix of the worlds of good (The city of Branmere itself) and evil (Crook's Square). The entertainment is lovely. Tales Of The Ocean is an amazing ride based on legends surrounding the sea and water in general. The Crook's Twist is a rather interesting coaster based on a fight between criminals and law enforcement. Tick Tock Croc Spin is a lovely little ride that adds a bit of whimsy to the section's otherwise realistic vibe. Hook The Musical sounds like an amazing show!

NORTH STAR OUTPOST: @Lizzy May Bee, this land is amazing! Brother Bear: Salmon Run is a great way to integrate the rich Indigenous culture of the Arctic into a land where it might otherwise be impossible to do so. Earth's Undiscovered Frontier: A Deep Sea Museum is a cool walkthrough showing off various deep sea creatures. The shows are cool and feature yet another tasteful integration of Indigenous culture into the land. DEEP FREEZE is a great coaster based on the extremely cool legend of the Kraken!
Looking back at this review, quite a few things are obvious:

1. I was in my ā€œEpic Universe Praising Phaseā€ when I made this.
2. I am big into Chinese mythology, as per usual.
3. I hadn’t yet gotten that big into the Islamic Golden Age/Abbasid Baghdad. I am into it now because of an app that I got recently that is basically a digital recreation of 9th century Baghdad that you can explore.
4. I really had a lot to say about the first two lands, didn’t I?
5. I distinctly remember thinking Branmere was a vibe, but I said very little about it compared to the previous two lands, which is odd.
6. I was really happy that the Inuit were depicted in North Star Outpost.
