I like the idea of the characters knowing your name but with WDW being an international destination, that could be a problem. Not all guests will have simple names.

I have no clue what you are going in about.

The stock is up something like $15 over the last six months. So basically, since they announced MM+ the stock has improved considerably.
Out of curiosity, are you implying the improvement in stock is because of MM+? Because I feel like that isn't remotely the reason. Just sayin'.

No, I'm merely commenting on the post that asserted that stockholders should be unhappy about this huge investment.
At the same time, why should the be happy? It's not like program has been implemented fully (or well as the many reports have said...it's not going that great) yet so as to determine if it really was money well spent.

Perhaps they see a difference between 'reports' and 'internet rumor'.

Well, yes. What people here have a hard time understanding is it is rarely wise to buy a stock based on what the company is doing now or has done in the past. I want to know what it's going to do in the future. MM+ could certainly increase revenues in the (Florida) parks. If it does that, then it will be successful. If (and granted, it's a big if) TDO ever goes through with a DHS revamp and Avatar/DAK upgrade, and MM+ is keeping people on property longer anyway...imagine the potential revenue. People here, in general, think way too short term.

In your scenario, what do you really think is driving the higher revenue... A DHS revamp and Avatar/DAK upgrade, or MM+?

Or let's look at it another way: In the next few years, WDW is rolling out new F-land and MM+, while UNI is rolling out Potter Phase 1, Potter Phase 2, Transformers, Springfield, a new resort, along with the rumor of a close announcement for the center of IOA, etc.

Are you willing to bet against me that UNI's numbers grow more than WDW's over the next three years? You know UNI's growth numbers are ALREADY outpacing WDW's for the past 2 years even WITHOUT all these new offerings opening, correct?

This has nothing to do with ability to look long term, or lack thereof. It's about frustration with where they chose to spend their money and how. UNI is doing it by giving people new experiences that are top notch and revolutionary. WDW is doing it with smoke and mirrors.

It bothers me that the three (and soon to be 5) top attractions aren't in a Disney park. I wonder if shareholders care about that one. The competition is eating them ALIVE right now.

I'm telling you that they will compliment each other. Simple.

And to invest in TWDC only for P&R is foolish anyway, just as it would be foolish to invest in CMCSA solely for UNI parks. Want to invest just in theme parks? Go buy SIX. If only for the dividend.

Nobody is buying TWDC stock based on MM+. I don't know this for sure, but most analysts likely have not built anything into their models for it, other than possibly expense. It's not typical for analysts to give a company value for future, potential revenues from an intangible business. If they announce a new cruise ship it's easy to project a number based on past cruise ships. This thing is new and completely unproven. I doubt anyone would tweak their models to assume higher margins or higher guest spend based on this project.

None of that has any impact on the value of the project or whether it eventually will add value. It's just how Wall St values businesses and stocks.

I agree completely, P&R is a small part of TWDC and not what you'd buy stock focusing on. I got on the topic from @dadddio (I think) saying a shareholder should like MM+, and I think it's way too early to even remotely think that. In fact, thus far all there seem to be are giant red flags flying up all over the place over it.

And within the P&R segment, the past two years the numbers have shown DLR and DCL have been carrying the load and WDW has been dragging it down. To point to WDW and anything they're doing (or are in the midst of doing) as a success motivator for shareholders isn't correct.

People will book trips for new and revolutionary experiences. Not one single person will book a trip because they want to experience MM+. That should bother people.

It's clear he's trolling. Step away from the vortex and move on. I am. ;)

I joined this site just so I can tell you that you are 1000% correct. He does the same #*&% over on the DIS boards with the same name. 85% of his posts are about how great this FP+ / MM+ crap is. He is towing the company line for sure and Disney can do absolutely no wrong. Just ignore him. It will be easy because he will most likely just join in on the FP+ threads or when someone doesn't agree with or like something about Disney.

DIS doesn't allow savage beatdowns like the magic boards though

LOL - you'd be surprised - we have a few clients that cannot wait until their next trip so that they can use a Magic Band! (and those are just the ones that I know of)

But that's not someone booking a trip because of MM+, or because they want to wear a band. That's them looking forward to it on their next trip. Two very different things.
