Someone mentioned they saw on FaceBook (I don't do FB) that Pop is starting to add shampoo and soap dispensers in these rooms.

Are the beds now queen beds in the refurbished rooms? Trying to decide if I want to request a refurbished room for our stay in March.

I'm confused by the bedding...doesn't look like there is much of a blanket on the bed? Was it sufficient? Are there comforters or more blankets in the room??

That is no longer a value resort. Frankly it beats beats the mods. None of the deluxes have a bathtub like that with a hand held spray AND rain shower head. Love the frig - nicer than what's in the Deluxe rooms. They even had room to put a small microwave in the coffee station...which they should.

Amazing refurb.

We were there a couple weeks ago when it got down into the 30's at night. We were on the 4th floor and had the thermostat set to 72 in the room and I was fine. I prefer to have it chillier than that when I sleep but my travel partner doesn't :)

But the closet has remained at 15% of what it was. How will the clothes of four adults fit there? It's too small, that's very badly designed by Disney.

I don't think it was shown in this video, but there is an additional telescoping closet bar that extends another 8" on the outside of the "closet" so it's probably close to 1/3 or 1/2 the size of the original. They really should switch to a different (thinner) style hanger. That would help a lot. If I was staying at Pop with 3 other adults and we all planned to hang a lot of things in the closet, I'd bring my thin velvet covered hangers from home (we drive, so we have the space to do that).

Love the USB ports, the wife and I both forgot our charging cubes when we stayed at POP over Christmas in 2016, manged to get by using the portable phone charging kiosks you could get in the park but it was still a pain.

I saw a photo of dispensers on another forum site. Not sure if I like these. Is that even sanitary? Prefer my toiletries unopened. I am sure it is a huge money saver. No more bringing home those cute little Mickey eared containers ☹️

We were just there Jan 18-23 and stayed in the 60's building right off the pool. No refurb yet, but while we were there they started working on the wing of our building that jutted out in the back (facing the 50's). So I would imagine they'll be saving the two pool facing buildings (60's and 70's) for last. Bummer, I would have loved this room!

The full-size dispensers aren't accessible by guests. Housekeeping has a key to open the mounting bracket so that they can refill the large containers. They are also suppose to be sanitizing the bottles after guests check out. I've read that the little bottles of toiletries were also refilled. If there were partially used bottles left in rooms they were returned to housekeeping and refilled to be put back in rooms. Not sure how accurate that is, but I've read it more than once and from different sources.

I'm not quite sure what you mean in the bolded statement (maybe it's a typo or I'm just totally misreading it). Both of the 60's buildings face the pool, though not all of the rooms in those buildings face the pool....so maybe you were just referring to pool-facing rooms as opposed to buildings. Both of the 60's buildings have had some or all of their rooms closed for refurbishment for the last few weeks. The 70's section doesn't have a pool at all. The 70's section (buildings 6 & 10) is completely refurbished and has been for a few weeks (by mid January all rooms in the 70's were back in inventory. The first rooms were back in inventory by the end of October.). Building 5 (in the 60's) started closing rooms on 12/12 and by 1/13 all rooms in that building were closed. I haven't heard of any being returned to inventory yet and wouldn't expect that to happen for a week or two at least -- probably longer). Building 4 (in the 60's) started closing rooms on or about 1/22 and I read over the last few days that all rooms in that building have now been closed. So it appears that the entire 60's section is currently out of inventory and being refurbished. The 50's section (which has 3 buildings facing it's pool) will be the final area refurbished but as of now, none of those buildings has been started and most likely won't be until building 5 in the 60's is complete. It has been taking 70-90 days to complete a building.

So should I assume that by requesting a 60’s upper level room for our trip beginning 3/11, we will get an old room of perhaps be in the midst of the refurb? Should I request another section. We’ve paid for a preferred. I know that will be honored, but wonder where they’ll place us?? On another note. has anyone whose been recently been offered gift card in lieu of mousekeeping? Thanks for any info!

I wouldn't count on there being any preferred rooms available in the 60's section for your dates. Those rooms are all currently undergoing refurbishment so if there would be some available by then, they would be refurbished -- but there's no way to know at this point if the preferred rooms will be back in inventory by the time you arrive. They tend to open the buildings in phases as certain sections are completed. There are preferred rooms in the 70's section (all refurbished) and the 50's section (none refurbished) so you will probably end up in one of those sections. If a refurbished room is what is most important to you, just request that and don't list a decade.

Pop Century is still offering the $10/night (minus one night) credit for opting out of mousekeeping. You need do that on arrival day. Some people have been able to do it by calling mousekeeping from the phone in their room but most people have had to go to the front desk to take care of it. Some people have had it offered at check-in (if you don't do online check-in and go to the front desk instead) but others have had to ask about it even when checking in in person. If you opt out, you'll receive an electronic gift card via e-mail within a few hours.

Fantastic info! Thanks!! I did the online check in, so wonder if we are qualified for the gift card? Every little bit helps. We are there for 6 nights. Will look back at my requests as far as location. We prefer 60s, but can just roll with it.

Everyone at the resort is eligible for the gift card. If you get a direct-to-room text, just call mousekeeping from your room when you get there (if you're in a refurbished room it's called something else on the new phones...."resort services" or something like that). If they can't help you just stop at the front desk some time that day.

We just returned from Pop Century and stayed in the 60s section, building 5 in a refurbed room. At checkin they said it had just come online that week. It looked to me like half of the building was done at least on the first and second floors. We didn't go up to floor 3 or 4.

This is great news!! Thanks so much for taking the time to share the updated info. So now it looks like our chances are better for getting a refurb in the 60s. Maybe I should forget about requesting a top flloor? We were in building five last year. Very convenient location.
