Nice find. The pace and plot really changed with AEv2. Here`s hoping for a video of the v1 mainshow sometime....

Neat find, I've never seen this before - thanks for posting :)

I love Phil Hartman, but I really like Tim Curry's SIR better. Honestly, with Phil Hartman, all I can hear in my head is "Your client is big bird?" and I'm immediately out of the XS Tech world :ROFLOL:

Really, though, there's something so ominous about hearing SIR say "Bon Voyage!" as you make your way out of the preshow area....gosh, I really miss AE, that thing really scared the heck out of me when I was a teenager!

I have waited for 14 years to see the video that was just posted. To say this made my day would be about as big of an understatement as I could come up with. When I saw the Dec 14, 1994 on the screen, I knew my search was over :)

Thank you so much!

It is true that the original pre-show created the impression of a whimsical Disney attraction, in contrast to the darker main show, and unintentionally misled guests. The second version is both more apt and in my opinion, hilarious in a macabre way.

"And it can be stopped... indefinitely". :D

It's a good thing I watched the video, because for a second, I thought the second "version" of AE people in this thread were suggesting they preferred more was SGE. Once I watched the video, I realized there was an incarnation of AE prior to the version I saw (and is commonly seen in tribute videos). I must say, I prefer the non-Hartman version better. I also am quite thankful you all didn't just attest to preferring SGE over AE (yes, CThaddeus, we know you like it...)

I find it interesting that Skippy is on the left side at the start of the preshow in this version, and in the Tim Curry version, he was on the right. Now with Stitch, he's back on the left. I guess it's an alien's prerogative to change his mind.

Thanks for posting this - I miss this ride although I can understand some of the reasons that Disney changed it.
When I first went on this ride I was 9 and cried so hard - I was terrified!

They should have kept Alien Encounter instead of making it into that stupid Stich ride..I like the Stich character but AE just was well done. the Stich ride was an afterthought.

I remember reading in the Unofficial Guide that some guy complained that his 40-something year old wife was terrified!!:ROFLOL: But, I guess that speaks to how effective this ride was...I have a pin from this ride and it's one of the "stars" of my collection.
