The legs are fake. The guy isn't sitting, his real legs are in the suit's leg and he's stilt walking. There's nothing visibly mechanized about the suit at all.

I like it. I didn't think I would since I read your comment before watching, but it looks pretty cool. Not any less realistic than the Transformer dudes. And I don't mean to start a war, I just happened to go to UNI a couple of weeks ago so it's fresh in my mind.

Designing for the film, they must have realized that it’s infinitely less dorky to have the driver operate the suit standing up. For these smaller, stilt-walker costumes, they obviously needed to make a few changes, but it looks silly as heck with those casually seated legs just chilling out in the front.
