Just bought an HD camcorder for our honeymoon to Disney - yes, Im tres sad :D

Im pressuming it is ok to film pretty much anywhere in the park? Just wondering some pros and cons (ignoring the obvious).

Is it no filming on the rides etc?:drevil:

CMs will generally tell you what you can`t tape - or try a thread search here for quite a few lists of what is recordable.

Just remember don`t use the LCD screen inside (it distracts other guests) and avoid auto focus on dark rides and for fireworks

And for everyones sake don`t shoot on high speed attractions if anything is not firmly secured.

I'm just getting back into video after recently purchasing an HD camcorder myself and here is some of what I've found:

1) You should never use video lighting inside any attraction or at SpectroMagic, it's terribly distracting to the experience for others and cast members will nearly always ask you to stop.

2) If your camera has a night-mode, you should not use it inside dark-ride attractions like Pirates. In most cases night-mode cameras use an IR light which you don't see but to the security cameras in the attraction it looks like a bright video light.

3) You can record inside many attractions but in most cases you should not have the viewscreen open when doing so. The boxes of light all over the audience or ride vehicle are distracting to others behind you. I had an example of this recently when recording the stretch-room sequence in HM. The cast member came up behind me and said I was welcome to record but had to close the viewscreen. Unfortunately my camcorder has no viewfinder, I can only use the screen. Whenever I record I try to sit in the last row, or way at the end of the row so as not to distract others.

4) Very few of the attractions that include movie projections of any kind allow video-taping. It is often triggered by a rights issues, not to mention that that frame rates are different and unless you know how to deal with that, you'll have all kinds of annoying flicker on the video anyway.

ahh .. and also don't use the nightshot cause it looks like warzone footage .. just plain bad

best thing you can do is play with your camera a bit before you enter the parks, so you know the buttuns to fiddle with, on your trip
