Hello all. For our anniversary next year we are trying to figure out which place to dine at. V&A's always seems interesting and for this special occassion we want to splurge and dine some place that we would never normally dine at. I ask anyone that has dined at V&A for a review. Also is there an additional cost on the chef's table? If so is it worth the experience? Do I need to bring a jacket for V&A's?

Yeah, we haven't ventured to go there yet simply because of the cost, but I think it would definitely be worth it! You'll definitely have to give us a report on it if you go. :D

I was watching couples go into V&A while waiting to be seated at Citricos and they were dressed very nicely (especially the ladies )

If you don't wear a jacket they may provide one for you. No guarentee it will fit correctly or match your pants/shirt. So, bring a jacket :)

As for what kind of food to expect. The menu changes every night, but here is what I had when I ate there in 2006 with the wine pairings (which I highly recommend). If you call ahead, you can make requests. You will notice one of the items in the fish couse below is not a fish - indeed it is a chicken. That's because my ex did not eat fish, so it was swapped out. You get a choice of 3 or so items for each couse except for the Amuse Bouche - as traditional, that is up to the chef. These are what we ate.

Amuse Bouche
Warm celery cream with basil olive oil topped with smoked salmon and Iranian Caviar Paired with Codorniu Cava Brut, Penedes NV

Appitizer
Smoked Colorado Buffalo with Melted Cabbage Slaw and Grains of Paradise
Blue Lump Crab and Fresh Gulf Shrimp with Petite French Green Lentils - Paired with Trimbach Gewurztraminer, Alsace 2002

Fowl Course
Serrano Ham and Gruyere Cheese Stuffed Quail with Root Vegetable Flan
Poulet Rouge with Fresh Porcinis and a Truffled Egg paired with Feudi di San Nicola Negro Amaro, Puglia 2003

Fish Course
Poulet Rouge with Fresh Porcinis and a Truffled Egg (same thing I had in the previous course)
Atlantic Turbot with Winterpoint Oyster, Salsify, and Spinach Veloute paired with Domaine Maillard Pete et Fils Chorey-Les-Beaune Chardonnay, Burgundy 2004

Meat Course
Duet of Australian Kobe Beef
Marcho Farms Veal with Roasted Beet and Veal Cheek "Lasagna" paired with Charles Joguet "Cuvee Terroir" Cabernet Franc, Chinon 2003

Dessert Course
Rasberry Gelato with Micro Garden Mint
Comte Sainte Antoine, Pierre Robert and English Stilton Cheesecake paired with Ramos Pinto Porto Tawny, Villa Nova de Gaia

by the way, the one in bold, one of the best dishes I have had anywhere.

I highly recommend V&A's if you want a special experience. You do need to wear a jacket there - my husband wore a suit and I wore a nice dress. There is a strict dress code. We went about 2-3 years ago and were talking the other day about going again next year maybe.

The food was very good and the experience itself was amazing. The service was spectacular and it was fun having a long leisurely meal with many courses. I am kind of a picky eater but I had no problem finding something to eat for each course. Definitely a memorable experience. Hope you enjoy it! :slurp:

I've had the opportunity to eat there two times. It is very expensive, but if you really enjoy food, appreciate impeccable service, and like luxurious surroundings, you will love it. My wife and I still talk about the experiences we had. Save your pennies and splurge if you can afford it.
