Via Napoli...Not the best meal

I went to Via Napoli because of all of the positive reviews I read here. I was with a friend and her two kids and I ordered Mezzo Rigatoni ( Chicken Alfredo w/peas) and a Pepperoni Pie. If I had ordered the pasta as a main entree I would have been very disappointed and the pizza was ok. The decor was nice and the staff was amazing but the food not so much. I used my ToW and the bill was still 80. For me it was nice doing it once, but probably will not go back

Can happen at any restaurant,we had a awesome time at Via Napoli. The Mezzo Metro pizza was 18" and the three of us still couldn't Finnish it off.:( and it was really good.We went to Le Cellier in 2010 and were very disappointed.

It's so odd to read about wildly different experiences at this restaurant. I've read some reviews where people agree with you and others where it was great some start to finish. We've eaten there twice and loved it both times.

I've eaten here 3 times, pizza twice and the seafood and linguine dinner once. The past dish was nothing amazing but the pizza was very good. The pace has a nice open lively atmosphere with some of the friendliest waiters I've ever encountered, and the Italian beer was good too!! I like it as a place to swing in split a pizza and pitcher of beer without a reservation. I've been lucky to get walk up seating all three times. I'd skip it for a nice sit down meal though...

I think part of this is due to the fact that the type of pizza being served there is not what most people think of as a traditional pizza. Most people hear "pizza" and the they think of a normal hand tossed from Pizza Hut or Domino's. When you are expecting X and you get Y, your opinion tends to start in the negative.

love the pizza @ VN, but have not tried any of the entrees. Tried the arrancini last time and was not impressed, but what do you expect from pre-made, frozen rice balls. I'll take my homemade risotto cakes any day. The zeppoli are a really tasty way to end your meal and VN is one of the only places I have seen La Rossa beer.

I can't talk about the pizza, but the sauce for the main entree tasted blah. My party of 2 at the time didn't have pizza. We ordered different entrees. There was an issue with the sauce for the 2 entrees.

In 2010, I limited by what type of pizza you could eat on the Disney dinning plan based on what I told by the waiter when I there at the time. I decided to take the main entree as a result. I had pollo- chicken breast parmigiana at the time. I forgot what the other person had. I had Chicken parmigiana better at other places.

I don't know if a person is still limited to what pizza you can order from the Disney dinning plan now like it was in 2010.

We had the same opinion as you the one time we went. The decor and environment was beautiful but we didn't enjoy the pizza. We got a vegetable pizza which tasted like salty, canned vegetables. We live close to New York and are used to that type of pizza. Maybe if we go there again in the future, we will try a different meal.

I think that is the main misconception about Via Napoli. It is a traditional pizza from Naples, not American. We absolutely love the pizza there! Ate there just last week during our vacation, and it is a must do every trip. We have never had a bad pizza, and we prefer it there over anywhere else.

If you want an italian entree, go next door to Tutto Italia. Much better italian. We would never order anything but the pizza at Via Napoli.

I tried Via Napoli once. We had the margarita pizza and the tomato basil appetizer. The appetizer was nothing special but I thought the pizza was good. I wouldn't classify it as the best pizza ever but it wasn't bad either (and I do prefer flat bread type of pizzas). The prices were, of course, ridiculous and is what will prevent me from going back. I'd like an excellent pizza for those prices.

Someone said the rice balls are frozen? Gee - and we almost got those.
 Yuck!

We've been twice so far and loved it both times. We get the calamari and 4 cheese pizza. We liked booking the earliest times and getting seated right away at a nice table by the window. Sorry to hear you did not enjoy it. I tend not to really use price comparisons like that with WDW because it's obviously going to be higher for a Disney pizza than a Papa John's pizza.

Via Napoli was our sleeper surprise. My DS and I both loved it. By looking at photo's I wasn't impressed but I had to try. Not the most expensive restaurant I ate at but the pizza pies were wonderful. And those little donut balls dipped in chocolate and whip cream, drool.

We've eaten there once and had a great pie. Just reading this thread has made me want a high end pizza for dinner. We are going to hit Anthony's Coal Fired Pizzas at the intersection of Sand Lake and Turkey Lake here in Orlando. Because the $255 cover charge for the 3 of us is a bit much for dinner at Via Napoli
