VERY weird question

I completely understand everybodys frustration with these people, but I think in the end you just have to realise that some people are not very bright. I have tried and realised that the feeling of being in WDW is not something you can explain, either you get it or you don't.
I know it's frustrating, but we just have to accept that some people are never going to understand, and that is their problem, not ours. It's been said before but - You can lead a horse to water.....
I think we should be thankful for these people. If everybody who went to WDW had a great time and understood things better, the place would be full every day and there would be no space for us clever ones that really appreciate it!

A Tentative Solution

Disney could EASILY solve this problem!!

1. Place large, visible racks with guidemaps at the entrance to each park.

2. Put a "must-see list for new visitors" on the guidemaps, listing a few of the major, high-capacity attractions. (At Magic Kingdom, for example, it would proabably list Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, Philharmagic, Space Mountain, and MAYBE Splash, but Splash may already be too overcrowded.) The list could even catagorize them, as is already done elsewhere, like "big thrills," "fun for little ones," etc.

3. Somewhere on the guidemaps could be a highly visible area mentioning the existance of the other WDW parks and attractions, perhaps even including a small WDW map.

Wouldn't this guarentee countless numbers of much happier guests, willing to spend more time and money? Why doesn't Disney do it?! :veryconfu

I agree that people shouldn't go to WDW blindly. But, I rarely do a lot of planning and have always had a great time. Anyone with common sense can see the park maps at the entrances, tip boards, and gift shops (they're everywhere!). I plan more now, simply because it helps me get through the withdrawl I feel when I'm not there. I've never bought a guide book and the only planning I ever do is booking my resort and airfare, buying my tickets, and booking 2 or 3 priority seatings. I'll also look ahead to see the park hours and parade/firework times. Other than that, we just show up and play it by ear. To us, it's more fun to just show up and go with the flow. We always see everything that we want to. I just had to stick up a little for those like me who don't buy the guide books and still have fun and do everything.

My brother and sister in law went with us a couple years ago and we did have a lot of fun (it was my nephews' first trip), but he had read every book and structured things so much that it was borderline not fun. If you try to do too much by the book, then it can also take away from the trip because you're too busy worrying about the "schedule" of when you're doing what that you end up missing out on things. At least in my opinion.

I agree with SteveUK, there are a lot of people out there who are not very bright.

I also think there are a lot of people who go "for the kids" and have already decided that they are not going to have any fun.

My in-laws made a trip during the Thanksgiving holiday a couple of years ago. We had been together on another trip, so they were somewhat familiar with WDW. They asked for help and I gave it. Room discount tips, ticket info, help with the large crowds of Thanksgiving, the Unofficial Guide, a list of every restaurant in the Epcot area (stayed at the Swan) what kind of food they served and how expensive it was.

So after all that, what did they have to say? "It was so crowded!" (Duh, I told you that and gave you the UG with touring plans in it for this reason). "We didn't eat dinner at WDW, we went to Outback, Red Lobster, Denny's, etc." (HUH!?!) "We didn't get to the Studios" (said while acting surprised about TOT being there and Fantasmic!, HELLO I went there with you on your last trip!).

Then after complaining about it being so crowded, I said that it is less crowded at opening, SIL said "you aren't supposed to have to get up early on vacation".

All this and then the BIL complains about the bus service at the Swan being slow because " it took to long for them to load the handicapped passengers on"! What a gent!

Evidently from what I can gather, they got up and went to a sit down breakfast, went to a park at about 10-11am, stayed til afternoon, went to the pool, and then went out to eat, and to bed. NEver saw any parks at night or any night time shows.

I learned that I wasted my time and breath giving them advice to make their sons (my nephews) trip magical. They didn't want that they wanted to take the boys with the least amount of inconvenience to them. No magic in their heart.

Thanks for allowing me to rant. It still bothers me after all this time.

I have helped several other families who have had magical vacations. I think some people don't want to get the magic and won't. Those who want to will find it.

I agree with your frustration PMagic, and think you answered your own question. As with so many other opportunities and aspects of life, there is no pleasing some people, and some folks while refusing to plan an activity for even 5 minutes blame everyone else for their bad time. It scares me sometimes the people of all ages that just sit back and wait for "mommy" to take care of everything.

Marni captured the "stupidity" as well. Some folks just wander around, refusing to use fast pass, then cursing those who do, wondering why noone told them of the parade times, that some activities need reservations or at least more planning than arrival 5 minutes prior, and one of my favorites, why Disney has the nerve to allow it to rain during my vacation.

Sadly, I feel we have become a terribly spoiled, lazy and dependant population, quick in being an armchair quarterback, and safe as we don't make any decisions ourselves. :(
Are you sure you dont have an equally attractive brilliant sibling who is single?? Belle
