Very disappointed with Photopass Plus

I pre-ordered my Photopass Plus package months before our trip, & I was very excited to use it. The excitement started to dwindle when we were actually on our trip. We made it a point to look for all of the Photopass photographers to try to get as many photos as we could, and there simply wasn't enough around to make it worth the money we spent. We hit as many as we could, and honestly I could probably count on my fingers how many we found.

The biggest disappointment was getting back home from the trip and viewing the pics online. The amount of shots we got were a disappointment, but I was prepared for that. What I wasn't prepared for, was the quality of what I received. We got other people's photos in our package (our card had our name written on it with a sharpie, and I watched every photographer like a hawk the entire time they held my card to make sure it wasn't switched), we had blurry photos, we have photos where the icon (hat, castle, tree, ball) are so off center that all the cropping in the world isn't going to make them look normal, & we have duplicated shots. With us getting the photos of others in our package, I'm sure our photos are in someone else's as well.

I realize that every photo isn't going to be perfect, but for the amount of money paid for this package, I would expect much better quality and a better caliber of photographers taking the original pictures. At the very least, how hard is it to center a photo? It's the first thing your parents show you when you are a kid using a camera for the first time.

I did like being able to play with the photos to zoom in and add nice borders, but the excitement wasn't really there because I hated the photos so much, but they were all I had to work with.

I think the product is an awesome idea! It has so much potential to be an excellent product, and would be completely worth the money spent, if it got some major improvements on the front end with the photographers. I'll never use it again, and just continue to rely on our cameras and smartphones as we have done in the past.

Just thought I would share my experience to maybe save someone some money they could use for other things for their trip.

I'm sorry you had a negative experience. We had some Photopass pics taken (we didn't buy them, but checked them out online after we got home) on our last trip, and I concur with your opinion about the non-professional-level photography. We got much better results when Photopass photogs used our own rudimentary point-and-shoot camera from home, or when we passed our camera to other visitors and asked them to kindly take a photo of us.

It's a pretty well known fact that the photopass photographers aren't actually photographers, well most aren't. They are just CMs that have been given the role and been given VERY basic camera knowledge.

I am somewhat of a photographer and I've had conversations with quite a few photopass people and they rarely know even the most basic technical specs.

This makes me sad we ordered PP+ as well for our up coming trip. We had wonderful pictures taken on our 2012 trip. Lately I'm seeing more complaints about missing/mixed up pictures and poor quality of the shots.

Thanks for your opinion. We have been bouncing around the idea of getting the PP+ (were going in 49 days!) but lately the more I think about it the more hesitant I get. I'm starting to think back to our past trips and there may be only a handful of photos that I would want with PP and that's it. So maybe instead of spending $149.00 I should just pay the per picture fee on a handful of pics.

I've decided!! Thanks for helping me make up my mind :D I think we'll pass on the PP+.

I am the opposite of everything posted... I love PP.. I do not spend the money on the PP+ though. I only had 2 or 3 pictures not turn out but the 4 day trip in September I had over 181 pictures. They even "lost" a picture of us with Maleficent and after I put in a help ticket, they found it and it looked great!... Spend the $120 for the regular PP and save the $50 for the PP+.

Yes
The biggest thing I noticed with Photo Pass people were they were all in the same spot. 5-6 of them all in one spot. I did see less and less scattered about though. NONE at Typhoon Lagoon and they usually have one in the wave pool and one at Crush n Gusher.

I'm sorry you had this experience. It is part of why I NEVER buy PP. I use the card, have them take pics with their camera and with mine, and if I wind up buying one pic from the whole trip, that's a lot because I'm always happy with my own camera's pics. I rarely have more than about a dozen pics in my PP account from the whole trip (with perhaps 200 in my own camera, almost all of which my family takes ourselves). I might buy a magical one, but that's about it.

Just a quick question UPBeekeeper, did you get any of your ride and or dinner photos?

Well we had a great time using Photo Pass Plus. They where 21 people in are group and we had a great time each night looking at the photos we had taken each day. It became somewhat of a contest to see who could get the best photo each day. Some of the photos that had balloons, birds, teacups, etc. added where just great. We always have a book made from each trip and these photos added to that effort.

I have 4 discs of pp, the last one pp+.
The difference in them is astounding. Our first one, in 2009, had tons of magic pics, lots of great, quality photos, etc.. the next 2 are just as good. This last one we purchased in January is AWFUL> The pictures are framed badly, there are way less pictures (could not find pp photographers!), and I am disappointed. I think they gave us ride photos, and expected we would not care anymore if they gave us all we came to expect with pp.
I did prepurchase the pp+ for our November trip- giving them one last chance- but if it isn't better, it will be our last disc.

I mentioned this once a few years ago on here and was informed that I was incorrect, and that the photographers were everywhere. If so they hide when they see me coming.

We got tons of pics from Typhoon Lagoon. They had a photog in the wave pool, one at C&G and then one at the bottom of the family raft ride.

We had over 300 pics taken on our PP+. Most of them came out REALLY good. We like having the attraction photos but you can always buy the attraction photopass on it's own. We're not getting PP+ or pre-ordering the Cd for our trip in 2 weeks but I hthink we will get the attraction one. My cousin has never been before so it will be really cool to see her reaction in all the pics :)

We returned from our trip, about 2 weeks ago. I sat down this past weekend and went through our photos; we had photopass+. We got our money's worth, because we had several dining experiences that were connected to photopass+, so we got those packages as well as those pics on our CD. We also took advantage of ride photos and had them all downloaded to our photopass+. Like I said, I went through everything this past weekend. Decorated/Enhanced each photo, downloaded our photos from our camera and placed the order. I had the CD delivered on Wednesday. Our service was wonderful.

I have used the PhotoPass service about 8 times, and each time I have been pleased. The customer service (if you have a question or problem) is really great. The few times I have had a problem, it has been quickly solved. Even for a short trip of 3-4 days, we usually have about 125 pictures before adding borders. We also try to get the magic shots. This past trip we gat a pocture of DD holding Chip (from BatB). This summer we even tried PhotoPass+ and loved it. We ate at four restaurants where we received the photo package, and had over 20 ride photos. By the time I added borders, there were over 600 pictures!

I used Photopass + this summer and it wasn't that bad. The quality of the photos can be a bit disappointing, but its obvious they aren't professionally trained photographers. You can get lucky with a couple that are really good though.

I'm surprised you didn't find many photographer though, we found them all over the place. I was actually surprised by how many photographers there were. I think the only place that we didn't encounter many was in DHS. But to really get your money's worth you have to get the ride photos and do character dining.

Add another one to the PP+ fan club. We saw photographers everywhere! It actually got to huge point that I was like "meh, let's skip this one". The kids would insist and we had great interaction with the CM. We ended up with hundreds of photos and within a month of returning home, had already bought it for the next trip. The dining and ride photos are GREAT! We actually had a wonderful family photo at Animal Kingdom made into a giant print and professionally framed. It is beautiful. It's a special memory for us but doesn't scream "hey, we're at Disney". It's important to remember night shots too. Maybe the same location but a completely different photo experience at different times of the day.

We had the photopass+ in January and we were very happy. We did a few dinners where they took photos and we received all of those on our CD and all of our rides. Plus all the other photos we had taken around the park, also we had a couple of photos where they added characters. We had about 500 photos. I would do it again.

Im not one for long stories but my Photopass+ experience was the complete opposite of yours. I am really sorry that you had a bad experience. How many days were you there? Did you have any meals that would have come with pictures, or did you get any of the ride photos? If you didn't than you could have gone with the regular photo CD and saved a little money.
