Various Discounts

Steve......not sure if this is the appropriate place, but thought it would go well under "trip planning".

Someone mentioned the Disney Dining Expereince in another thread and I agree it is a great purchase considering you received 20% off at most restaurants with it (excluding Rainforest, but the Disney Club works there!!)

Another way to receive a discount is at Downtown Disney if you are staying on the property and have an American Express Card, you receive 15% off of your purchases (I believe it has to be $25.00 or more -- you will need to ask.) With the Disney Club Card you only receive 10% off.

Just thought I would pass along some ways to save while you are there.

Does anyone else know of any additional ways to save a few bucks while you are on vacation there? I always think if I can save a little here and there I can do more while I am there.

Hope this information helps.:)

Annual Pass

I have heard that an annual pass gets some discounts on food and rooms. I have not had one, but would love to hear from some folks that do. Wife and I may buy one next year to save some cash during our 7 day stay in October 2003.

Last Oct, my family bought Premium APs and got our room for $49.OO a night at the All Stars. This also got us discounts thru out the parks and resorts. Definately worth it. And by getting the APs, we made a trip in March, we are going back in June, and hopefully a trip in Oct. again before they expire. We normally only take 1 trip a year but we are getting in a few more trips with our APs. I guess in the long run, we spent alot more money since we are making multiple trips, but it is so much FUN.

Even if you want the room discount only, it may be worth it to buy just one AP, if you are staying more than 4 or 5 days. BTW, I think you can reserve up to two rooms on one AP.

So I say, GO FOR IT!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

The AP rates are great for the value season. We have ressies for the Contemporary in the Tower for $224 night, which is still expensive but much cheaper than the regular value rate. I think we're saving about $100 a night.

I don't know if they still do it, but a few of the restaurants in World Showcase used to have early bird specials for dinner. That'll save you a few bucks. Plus, the lunch menus pretty much offer the same as the dinner menus but cheaper. We usually eat a big meal at Lunch and small at dinner.

I know they would never do this...........but it would be great if on the maps on somewhere at the entrance to eating establishments they showed the cards that those places accepted for discounts.

You know like they do the little pictures of credit cards at checkouts. I always get confused as to which places take the Disney Dining Experience, the Annual Pass, the Disney Club, etc. I practically have to make a list of what places take what and when to get the best deal. I know sometimes with the Disney Club and Annual Pass discounts, they are limited to certain times of the day. It gets a little confusing at times. :hammer:

Rereading my previous post, I realized that I probably paid more for the "discount" cards (programs) than I will ever receive back by using them for discounts.

Oh well, I use them as souveniors also!!! And I must admit, anything Disney is worth it!!

:D

 After our last trip, I went and got an AMEX card just to receive the "treatment" on our next trip!

...which will be this fall...sigh...so far away. :(

First just let me say that the best discount is the CM discount! I won't tell you how much we save on tickets, food, hotels and merchandise but it is well worth it if you are a huge Disney fan like me! :animwink: If you can, try to work even at a Disney Store in your area. You only have to commit to about 16 hours per week and the discounts start immediatley. Oh, and if you get hired, tell them you were refered by Scott from store #694. If you do, you will get an extra surprise.

As for the Disney Club Card, you do save %10 but not everywhere. It only applies to certain things. The tickets are not 10% but just dicounted from the original price. (about $10 on a 5-day hopper) To be sure to save 10% on merchandise, shop at the World Of Disney in the Village Marketplace.

AAA offers great discounts on hotels at the Village Area resorts. (Grosvenor, Windham, Double Tree, Courtyard, etc) The rooms are great and you still are right in the middle of the magic.

I don't know about the AP's.

Using your Amex card gets you a free dessert if you spend $50 or more at Mama Melrose's, Akershus or Tony's Town Square.

Also, this year, AP's get 10% off of lunch at all sit down restraunts in Epcot (you only need one pass for up to 5 people).

We always ask when we are seated if Amex, AP, or Disney club has any discounts at the time--you can just never be sure unless you ask.
