Value Resorts????

In the post "which value resort do you prefer and why?" almost everyone chose Pop Centry. What I want to know is out of those which one is the better one for a couple on their second honeymoon? Are there certain rooms better than others as far as atmosphere and quiet?

Pop! It's closer to Epcot, Studios & DTD. I've seen many couples stay there. When they look back at the little knick knacks from the decades it brings you back to "remember when." And depending on where you stay (for example not by a pool area) it should be pretty relaxing plus the generation gap bridge is really great and you can you hear how quiet it is.

I don't know if any of the values are really the ideal second honeymoon spots, but if that is what you are going with then I think a Pop room in the 90's would be nice and quiet. All Star Music also seems to be the least popular of the values, so if you get a room far away from the main areas you should also have a quiet room.

true I know but we only have so much money and was trying to save a little. Was also looking at French Quarter/Riverside. Are these better for privacy and away from kids?

I always found Pop to be more overcrowded than the All-Stars, especially Music. Having stayed at every single value, our favourite was Music for quietness, relatively shorter bus lines, and last year's nightly pool entertainment during Summer.

As someone else previously said, I have stayed at all 4 values and agree that Music had to be the quietest. Next would be the 90's at PC. Definetly stay away from Sports -- all kids.

DH and I stayed at PC in the 90's for a trip right before our 1st anniv and loved the fact that it was so quiet. It's a hike to the buses and the food court - but worth it.

The moderates will definitely offer more romantic and quiet settings for you over the values. Riverside is very big so there is always somewhere to escape to. French Quarter also really tries to make a romantic setting at night and there are nice little park type areas to sit and relax. If you can afford to upgrade, I definitely recommend you do. Sometimes they offer some great promotions and you are able to get a moderate for not much more than a value resort. If you need any help or have some more questions just send me an email evan@kingdomkonsultant.com

I agree with Evan. French Quarter will most defiantly be more romantic. The grounds are really pretty with gardens and fountains. Walking along the water is really nice as well.

Pop Goes the Honeymoon

I agree that Port Orleans might be a better 2nd honeymoon choice. They offer carriage rides in the evening plus water transport to Downtown Disney at night. However, if the value resorts are the only budget options then I would choose Pop Century. A moonlight walk along generation gap bridge is a very nice late night activity.

Well, we stayed at Pop Century in June of 07 and it was our second time. There was three adults and one tennager. We wanted the quieter end. We were in the 50s section both times. The first time were were facing the pool but on the end so it was not that loud. But the second time was amazing. We were located in the middle of the fifties section on the back overlooking the water. It was gorgeous. We even could see epcots fireworks at night. PLus, it was close to the bridge to cross the water. It was not a terrible walk to the food court either. So if you stay at Pop Century request a water facing room in the 50s section like we did.

PS. There are tons of bunnies too! I'm not joking. They were everywhere.

My wife and I are not very picky on hotels and do not usually stay in expensive hotels. We tried POP Century for the first time to see if the value resorts were a good option. It's a clean hotel and not a bad place to stay, but if you are planning any type of romantic get away with privacy and relaxation, then avoid staying there if you can. The walls are paper thin (I could hear people use the bathroom next door). You will always wake up around 7:30-8:00, and will always be disturbed when any park closes. Plus, they do have king rooms, but they were booked up every day (in December) so we stayed in a double bed the whole time. We did not have a bad time at all, but we wished often we would have stayed at a moderate.

We've stayed at Pop and also at POR, and I'd definitely recommend POR (the mansions side) for a romantic get-away. I know the price is a little prohibitive, but if you can possibly afford it, I'd say go for it. It's a beautiful resort with great theming.

We stayed at Movies last Feb (and loved it, the room was very quiet and there weren't many other people around even though there was a cheer group staying there) and this March we're staying at Pop. I'm expecting it to be MUCH busier this year since it's right before/during Spring Break, but I'm prepared

If you're looking for a quiet, romantic retreat, the closest you'll probably get is Music. Are they busier now that they've put in the family suites though?

I stayed at Pop Oct. 2006 for my honeymoon and we loved it. I have stayed there a few times before and after that and also stayed at Port Orleans and the Polynesian over the years, among the other values as well. The more you can spend the better but don't count out Pop just because it is a value resort. My husband and I had the outlook that we would rather spend less on the room and more on nicer restaurants and other things like Cirque du Soleil and things like that. It is well worth it if you are trying to save money. Our room was in the 50's building, unfortunately facing the parking lot but it was very quiet. Never had any problems. Have a great time!!

If you can spend a little more $ for your trip try POR - it is very romantic. The lush gardens, the mansions, the quiet pools and the boat to downtown Disney really make it worth the extra $ if you plan on spending any time at the resort.

If you want to stay with a value because you won't spend much time at the resort anyway, I'd suggest ASMu. We stayed there in May and even with many band groups etc. it was very quiet in our section of the resort (we were in rock). Without children the walk to the food court and bus stop shouldn't be a problem- we had a four year old and it was fine. Plus the quiet pool was great! It was never very crowded at all - and this was when the main pool was closed. We found the grounds to be very well maintained and clean even though they were not as lush as the more expensive hotels. The food court had incredible service and it and the rooms were extremely clean.

Enjoy your trip wherever you decide to stay!

Pop Century, of course! DH and I were just at Pop on 12/8-12/19 2007. It was great! The resort was clean, quiet, and down the hall there was a pretty view of SSE. We would definately stay at POP again, if we're going to stay at a Value Resort.

I have heard the same thing. We have stayed at Sports & Music and we loved Music. The rooms had just been redone and the king room that we had was very nice. I liked it better than Caribbean Beach to be honest because it was just better all the way around.

If it were just me & DH going though, I would stay somewhere more romantic like POR. It just has more of an adult theme to me and always had good reviews. We are staying there next time & I am already getting excited.
