It's based on relative popularity: the difference in their ranking in the state v. nationally. So it's a combination of how popular you are in the state and how unpopular or unknown you are everywhere else.
So how does that explain Dave Matthews Band, Fallout Boy and Matchbox20 and the fact that I've never heard of The Civil Wars.

First three are all fairly well known names and Alabama's entry is totally obscure.

I don't know who NY got. I firmly believe our state should be broken up into NYC, Long Island and Upstate as 3 separate regions. LI would get Billy Joel.

NYC would get The Ramones I guess and the rest of the state would get whoever you actually got.

So my sister's mother in law called last night and invited my kids for a sleepover (she's like a second mom to me - my sister met her husband when I was 15 and the families are very close) since there is no school for Election Day tomorrow. Hmmm - let me think about that - sounds good to me!! It also happens to be Long Island Restaurant week (price fix three courses $29 at the pricier restaurants where just an entree is over $30). So I tried to get a reservation at our absolute favorite restaurant and they are CLOSED on Mondays. So I made a reservation there on Friday (kids sleeping out AGAIN) and a different reservation for tonight. So that's two kid free fancy meals in one week.

So my mother in law went away on a cruise today. Yesterday, her niece that she is vacationing with called me concerned that MIL's power was out since her phone wasn't working and she couldn't get in touch with her. So I drove over there. At first I couldn't find her (she was outside raking leaves) and then I went in to investigate. I figured the modem needed to be reset. So I look at the modem and the lights aren't on at all. I looked at the power strip and there is a manual lamp on a timer plugged in and a cord set to the side. I unplugged the timer and plugged back in the random plug and PRESTO, the lights on the modem went back on. So I called the niece and explained what happened and went back outside to talk to my MIL: Did you plug in a timer this morning? Yes. Did you unplug something to do that? Yes - the modem - I figured I don't need internet access while I'm away. :banghead:
