I am biased on this for the moment because I don´t have a special someone, but also relieved that I don´t have to shop for a gift that shows my love for anyone.

I don´t like going out on that night because every place is crowded and it´s just another hallmark holiday. Every day could be Valentine´s day! Oh well...

So what do you think? How do you celebrate it? Are you a shopper for all kind of balloons, stuffed animals, chocolates, flowers, etc?

I´m adding a poll, not a very good one, I know... and I voted for "depends" because it´s a reason for my friends and I to see each other (not on that specific day), but we don´t exchange gifts anymore.

Happy Valentine´s Day! :lookaroun

 :animwink:

Well, I would gladly buy gifts and celebrate if I had a significant other to share it with...as I always have...

but this year...I'll probably be chilling with you peeps :)

personally (and I think I related this to everyone last year) I don't like vday either. I mean I always get cards for my parents and my mother gets us something (mom is really big into holidays) but this year ... well lets said considering recent events feb will not be a happy month for us.

Also, I have only had a valentine for one year.. out of 21.. LOL. so I never really liked the holiday in it's romantic sense.. I guess if I had someone I'd feel differently but at the moment.. I think the holiday stinks!

My family never send each other valentines cards.

Just seems a bit... weird to me!

As of this moment, i agree with DisJosh...Valentine's Day is just another day to me. i used to really love it in Elem. school when we had partys and all the kids gave cards and such. but now i just think it's a little crazy to appoint one day of the year to 'show' your love to someone. and i also agree with DisJosh that showing your love doesn't mean buying presents...some presents are ok, like simple flowers or chocolate (i'd NEVER say no to chocolate! :slurp: ) or even a simple card, but i think it's a little ridiculous when people go all out (no offense to those hopeless romantics out there...it's really sweet of you to be that way, imo, but it's just not my thing) i'd like to think of myself as a romantic, but i'd prefer to show my love, and have love shown to me in ways other than spending money. i just feel bad when i get presents for some reason...it just makes me feel obligated to get something for that person if i haven't already.
of course, that's now...i dunno, maybe if i get a guy that'll all change. but for now, Feb. 14 is just another day.

When i was single V-day was just another day. Now, however, my girlfriend and i celebrate it every year, but not necessarily on the 14th. We do an intimate dinner usually the weekend before. We exchange cards, usually handmade. She's really into all holidays, so i join in her enthusiasm.

Well, here's a married man's perspective on it all. I tend to look at Valentine's Day as another day of the year, but my wife views it differently. I feel like I don't need a day of the year for me to express my love and feelings to her--I can do that EVERY day of the year, not just Feb 14. One year we really had it out because I didn't buy her a card and I explained how I felt about it all. This really didn't solve things with her, so I sat down, without her knowing, and hand-wrote her a 5 page love letter. I gave it to her and told her this explains how I feel about her better than some $3 card from Hallmark would ever explain it. That won her over, so now each Valentine's Day I tell her to get her letter out and re-read it. We do go out for dinner on that day, but nothing overly special. Guys, treat her special every day of the year and it will go a lot further than putting on the ritz for Feb 14.

But I will get her the kissing Mickey and Minnie dolls this year!
