Vague TEST TRACK confirmation from Disney Parks Blog

Is it possible each guest could be provided some sort of simulation helmet or glasses that gives each guest their own version of the ride? For instance each guest can choose their version of each test as the vehicle travels along?

So, uh, how about that Harry Potter rumor? :lookaroun

Ah whatever, I don't really care for this. I use FastPass or Single Riders anyway so I will have no say in the design. As long as I can still hit 64.7 mph on that banked curve I'm fine

Sounds like the same exact ride with added SSE style "interactive" crap. The potential for an actual futuristic and optimistic reimagined and modern EPCOT Center ride with a combination of WoM and sleek Tron like visuals could be incredible. I just have a feeling it will just be a watered down version of the same exact thing only with touch screens.
Agreed. I feel this could go either way - awesome, or "Spaceship Earth finale"

I am starting to think that the Spaceship Earth we have now is what they wanted. I don't buy that they were not finished since they want your attention on the screen constantly.

Well those lame hanging triangles, at some point, did have a plan. It was just never put into action. I do think because of the screens they thought they could get by with making it look like crap around you to save a load of money. Riding through an air duct, I hope TDO/Siemens is happy. They dont care. And the tourists dont care so this is the way they do things now. I need a moment to :hurl:
Anyway lol I just hope Test Track comes out better and followed through.

I agree, :( its all about interactive and queues and such now, not the rides themselves.

Bolded for emphasis. Probably the biggest problem with the direction WDW is going. Zombified tourists unengaged in their environment, accepting whatever is there without input. This will bite Disney--and any other company that uses this business model--in the butt later down the road when the consumer stops differentiating Disney from any other recreational experience (those much cheaper and closer to home) and stop going. There will be a trickle effect, and it will be devastating. They'll have to spend billions to win those people back, which they won't likely do, and that's when you'll see the sale of the P&R division to an outside company.

I just don't understand how this would work with 6 different people in your car....

Also the preshow room squeezes in about 30 people how would that work ?

What do we have here...the setting's shifting gears from an automotive testing facility to a build-a-car workshop? Next to nothing is being changed about the ride? And the queue, the only undisputedly good thing about the ride, is all that's changing? Color me excited....

Well, the only reason it's getting changed at all is because GM is footing the bill. TDO would change it as much as GM is willing to pay, which probably isn't that much.

The most likely reason for the name change is that General Motors wants to use the ride to promote the Chevrolet brand specifically rather than all of General Motors.

There's also the PR spin of why is a company that is taking government bailout money sponsoring an attraction at Disney?

To be fair they just still need to repay the loan. They aren't presently taking more funds nor have they for some time.

Its advertising. Any company is going to advertise, regardless of how much or if they are taking more public funds (didn't stop BoA did it?). I'd rather them use it here than in the commercial break for "Keeping up with the Kardashians".

Before we really get into it, I am going to remind everyone to keep politics out of the conversation. It never ends well, and it would be a shame to have to kill a thread that has had a lot of good discussion about the attraction.

Agreed. I wasn't passing judgement, just bringing up the Public Relations viewpoint.

coming soon, Kardashians Wild Wedding Ride,,,shortest ride duration on the property. :zipit::lol:

ok now back to test track. a new showroom and queue will be nice. I dont see how they are going to keep the line moving if your busy being interactive designing a car. I hope theres at least some ride scene upgrades. Hopefully they didnt ditch this all together.
