Using Video Cameras On Rides

As far as filming different attractions, CMs aren't responsible for your cameras and personal things so you have to take them on the rides with you. I have filmed SM, ToT, RNRC, TT and serveral other fast-paced rides before with no problem. Just hang on!...and turn the external cameral light off please (unlike a guest infront of me one year on SM  ).

rainfully - great user title!

One other note - don`t be too dissapointed if some of your video comes out with green or purple lighting. The dark rides especially, and more, use ultraviolet lighting for their effects. The CCD chip in modern cameras gets confused by this, and registers UV as a solid colour. My personal favourites are RnRC and El Rio Del Tiempo (Mexico`s sunset is a lovely shade of lime!)

If by SM you mean Splash, that might have been me... ... I was taping, and thinking "gee, this is turning out amazingly well!" Well halfway through the tape you hear me go "oh no! the light's on! how do turn it off?! HELP!" And I was attempting to cover the light with my hand while getting my sister help me turn it off... It turns out someone put the auto function on the light... I felt terrible, but it was fixed.

Geez... I have a lot of taping blunders... perhaps I should refrain from the video from now on...

I got a different digital camera right before I went to Disney, so I filmed the final drop of Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railraod, Rock'n' Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, and Test Track. My camera sucks though, it doesn't record any sounds... Oh well :hammer:

just make sure to hold on to it tight! i suggest you go on the rides a few times so you know when the sharp turns, loops, drops, etc are coming up... So you know when to hold on Extra good!

My dad was trying to be slick and turned the camera on during the Great Movie Ride, and was told by the tour guide to turn it of.

He did sneak it on again a couple more times during the ride though. :D

Hmmm... I have video that my dad shot of the GMR... but that was quite a few years ago... I guess they didn't have any videotaping restrictions then...

A friend and I sat behind a family with a video camera on Dinosaur last year, and just to make their movie all the more interesting, we screamed like little girls the whole time

Thats funny! i think I would have done the same thing! I hate when people are taking pictures and take a long time and freak out if you get in the way. Hurry up and take the picture. I guess I am just not a video camera kind of person, I am more of a snap and go, and not a take forever to take a picture kind of person. But that is funny, my boyfriend laughed when i read him that. :sohappy:

Heh.... I have so much tape to edit... its not funny....

Ditto!

When I do the video updates, I don't do much tlaking on the ride, if you say the IASW video it was mostly light speaking from corinne about what we saw that was new, but to me, not the camera. Of Im walking around Im going to talk and such, but I just get some looks. I recorded Spaceship Earth a few weeks ago, but the track is so jerky now that it kinda sucked. OH well, it was worth the nap. I do keep my record light turned off, and use the LCD screen, but not on rides. I plan to do A LOT of videoing coming up soon when i don't have so much paying work to finish.

I have a plan that will, When finished in like two years, be the coolest, craziest, and most extensive project about WDW ever, I do need lots of help though, PhotoDave, Gymleader, we need to talk...:D

Hmmm...indeed...

I taped GMR pratically infront of the CM...and had no issue....in fact he said...no external video lighting...but never said "no video taping"....

Interesting...

I`ve had experiences on the same trip where different CM`s have had different policy - either confusion, rules only being partly enforced, or maybe too many cameras on the same vehicle. I have GMR from the seat right behind the CM - who played up his part perfectly despite being right in shot!

At least at Disney CM`s seem to be polite when enforcing a rule - unlike the little brats I ran into during summer season at Universal....

Me: `Good afternoon`

Brat: `NO CAMERAS` - yes, he did shout.

Me: `excuse me?`

Brat: `You heard`, turns to carry on his chat with fellow staff member.

And that was on ET. Even if copyright issues had come down on the attraction since my last (videotaped) ride, there is a right way and wrong way to do things. I`m sure that most Universal CM`s are polite (so no offence meant) but this incident, and a few more, stick in my mind from my last visit.

I remember the CM's telling us NOT to use video cameras on Universe Of Energy, Rock & Roller Coaster, Misson Space, The American Adventure (I have no idea why), Tower of Terror, Star Tours, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Carousel of Progress, any of the 3D shows.

I think they say something like - because of respect, or similar, on the American Adventure.

However, why you can film in other countries rides and thats respectful is beyond me!

But I maybe wrong on that - just going from memory

btw .. I was allowed to film ET .. and looks cool .. (still to be released)
