Hi all,
We are coming to Disney in June 2007 and were wondering, since there is only a bus available from our resort (POP Century) are we allowed to make our way to another close by resort and use their transportation ie monorails etc? Also is anything within walking distance ie less than 20 minutes from POP century?

Cant wait to read any responses,
Many thanks

I don't think any resort within walking distance of Pop Century has anything other than bus transportation....IF you were allowed to walk there. There are no pedestrians allowed on WDW roads once you leave the resort entrance, as far as I know.

I remember our bus stopping and picking up a group of walkers, and bringing them back to AKL. I have also seen security talking to pedestrians by the side of the road. It really isn't safe to walk anywhere except on marked sidewalks/walkways. (such as the one going from the Epcot resorts to MGM)

Technically you could walk to the Caribbean Beach or the Wide World Of Sports but as Mom says it is not allowed.

The buses at the Pop are great and you never have to wait long for one. If you want to visit another resort then get the bus to the park closest to the resort you wish to visit and then get on the bus to the required resort.

A nice walk is from the main enterance of Epcot through the park and out the International Gateway at World Showcase. You can then walk around the Boardwalk area visiting The Yacht and Beach Clubs, the Boardwalk, The Dolphin and the Swan. You can also keep walking to MGM or to the mini golf behind the Dolphin.

Another nice but easier walk is to get the bus to Magic Kingdom then walk along to the Contemporary for a look. Jump on the resort monorail and get off at the Grand Floridian. You can then walk along the beach to the Poly.

As others have said, it is far too long of a walk and probably dangerous to walk anywhere else. You can take the monorail to the Poly, Contemporary and the GF from MK.

The way you've worded the question sounds like you just want to experience riding the monorail and/or boat transportation. You can do either, there's no rule that you can't.

Bus service from Pop will take you to the various parks or DTD. but there's nothing stopping you from going on an adventure... Take the Monorail from Epcot to TTC and ten take the resort monorail and visit each of the resorts or the express to MK. Or you could take the boat from MK to TTC or to some of the resorts and explore that way.

WDW property is not pedestrian-friendly from the standpoint of inter-resort travel, but that shouldn't keep you from experiencing the different modes of travel available.
