Using honeymoon registry to pay for resort

Only 58 days until we leave for WDW for our honeymoon!

We registered our honeymoon with Disney's honeymoon registry and think that many people will be putting money on the gift card for wedding presents when it gets closer to the wedding, but nobody has bought anything on the registry yet. We booked the honeymoon through AAA and the final payment is due May 27th. We were hoping to use money gifted to us to pay towards the resort & tickets.

Is there any way to use money gifted to us after May 27th to pay for the resort & tickets or can we only use the gift card to buy things in the parks after we've payed the final amount to AAA?

Thanks!

I can't answer your specific question about how and when the "gifts" can be used, but I will let you know that you shouldn't count on many.

I'm old school, and a wedding gift was meant for something permanent, so I usually purchased a lifetime gift, or gave cash/check so the couple could save for a home or pool money to buy big ticket items like funiture, etc for their apartment. Not usually a honeymoon, but if that's what you want, it's your choice.

So you might be getting money at the wedding, but not money on the honeymoon gift card.

Not old, just vintage.
I've never even heard of a honeymoon registry. Is this a separate opportunity for wedding guests to donate money aside from the regular bridal shower gift and the wedding gift?

I'd assume that most people use it in lieu of regular wedding gifts. We like it because we have lots of out of town guests - who wouldn't have to ship us gifts and because we're well established and really don't need much.

The old school is good too - we like it all! I think what I'll do is take the park tickets off the reservation and pay for them OOP or with the gift card when we check in - which should cover any gifts we get to the registry.

Thanks!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon!! We're also using the honeymoon registry and have loved it so far! My fiance came up with a good idea for thank yous - we are planning to have a picture taken of us at Blizzard Beach, 50s Prime Time, etc. which people have paid for and use the picture as a postcard. He thought it would be a great way for people to know that we used the gift card for what they actually wanted us to use it for.
Hope you have a fantastic honeymoon!

We are doing the same thing! And I've checked (and re-checked!) with both our resort and the honeymoon registry peeps, and what you have to do is pay up front and you will get reimbursed at check-in. You can do that for the hotel, dining plan, park tickets, pretty much everything at Disney!

I think that this is a GREAT wedding gift, and we have been encouraging people to do this (especially our younger friends and family who really don't want to schlep it through the china department at Macys!). Blenders and toasters break, but honeymoon memories are forever!

The registury is a great idea. Especially for us younger people that are getting married or just got married. I got married in January and the registury was the best thing we could of done! Congrats!!!

I hope you get more towards your trip!
I am also younger and a lot of my friends who have recently gotten married have also done a honeymoon registry. I think many of (and I hope no one who is old school or conservative gets offended by this) the younger generation is living together before getting married. I know this is true for many of my friends. So they already have the bedspread that they want and a blender and that kind of stuff. So it's nice to be able to bypass all that and go on a great honeymoon!
Good luck and best wishes!!
