Using a parent's membership

My friend and I are in college, and as many college students...we don't have a great deal of money to be spending. We'd really love to go to WDW sometime next year. My friend and I are going to use her mom's Disney Vacation Club points for the hotel.

My question is this: Does anyone know how that can work, or if it can, since the membership is in her mother's name and not hers? Her mom will obviously not be going with us.

Her Mom just needs to make the reservation for her (and you). I think they will ask for the names of the people occupying the room when the reservation is made.

My husband and I own DVC and this past January our two college age kids used our DVC. I called DVC and made 2 separate 5 night reservations for them and their friends. Your friend's mom has to call to make the reservation. She'll need to give the names of anyone staying in the room. You guys are entitled to Magical Express (transportation to and from the airport). The dining plan is also available for anyone staying at a DVC resort (37.99 per night of stay per adult).

Magical Express

Thanks for the info!

We're planning on using Disney's Magical Express. I know Delta airlines is a participating airline, but I wasn't sure if it would be wise to buy my airline tickets before making reservations at a Disney resort.

See if you can get her mom's DVC card... sometimes there are additional discounts for DVC memebers when you present the card.

Thanks!

Her mom mentioned that we could make dinner reservations online with her card and get discounts at certain restaurants. We'll see! I hope so, that'd be awesome!

I do it all the time. When I came down for this summer's CP, I stayed at SSR overnight with a friend. When my boyfriend comes down to visit, we're staying at Boardwalk for 3 nights and Polynesian for 1. It's no problem at all.
