UpStairs Imagination Abandoned 2013- Weird little room

It's not fully abandoned. Ever since they kicked him out of his house @George sometimes crashes at the Imagination upstairs. This keeps the benches clean and sometimes he wipes a cloth over some displays, as he reminisces about the good old days, back when Figment still roamed here, and he had a house, and a wife, and warm food each day.

Those are the good nights my friend. Tonight it is a burlap bag in the corner of the endless Mine Train construction area. I am probably the only person hoping soft openings get pushed back even further.

Speaking of trespassing, in high school some of my friends got bussed in to help out at WDW during the busy spring break period. At some point after that (we were all still in HS), when we were in the MK, one of my buddies pushed open a door (which door will remain a mystery) and down into the utilidors and the employee cafeteria we went. We ate lunch and only received minimal suspicious looks despite the fact that one of my friends had long, 80's, hair band hair. Really dumb and I wouldn't do it today, but @MarkTwain is essentially correct. I was able to determine the exact date since a Celtics, Pistons Eastern conference final game was on that day and I remembered the game. Generally, I am too bored to go through that process again.

Here is a new video of Imagination abandoned in 2013! Notice the little room with the computer in it? I wonder what this is? Also, since ATW's video, they have removed A LOT of stuff!

Way jealous. I would love to be able to go into those hidden areas.

That first 20 seconds of Bon Jovi was awesome, and a little weird. Usually these kinds of vids just make me sad, but in this case I think it's really dumb that Disney is just letting this great space go to waste
The scene in Tron Legacy when Sam first enters the Flynn Arcade comes to mind...

Sad that it's being such a waste of space. Hopefully one day it'll reopen, just don't see that happening in the near future

After being a contractor and a part time CM at MK, I'm not surprised at all.

I think the worst, or maybe the best, thing about this video for me is the quick glimpse you get of the rest of Epcot from the second floor, through the windows of the glass pyramid. You used to get a similar view of the other half of Epcot in the beginning of World of Motion when the ride went outside briefly, and I guess you get to see it really quickly on Test Track. But aside from the lame figment ride, no 2nd floor image works, and no longer getting the amazing view of the park through the giant glass pyramid... to me it seems like they're wasting pretty much every aspect that the Imagination build has to offer

Ive been to WDW 7-8 times in the last 3-4 years and I've never been in this building. Never wanted to see Captain EO never really bothered with Figment.

The closed upstairs looks pretty cool though!

...said nobody in classic EPCOT ever.

Oh, poor Imagination, what have they done to you!

I looked through the tread but didn't find any mention of this...but just when the camera pans to the computer(around 3:21), I am surprised no one saw the shadow of a body in front of the screen!? Could this have been a mannequin? a ghost of Walt, The Dreamfinder or Figment?

What I find the most fascinating about those and other pictures done recently of the upstairs area is that they have and are still paying cleaning crews to keep it shiny and bright. I noticed that railings, benches, old displays, etc. are all clean looking and ready to be used. That area has been closed to the public for a long, long time, yet, still looks good and has not been allowed to deteriorate the way that most abandoned areas are. I wonder why?

Maybe they were still trying to woo potentional sponsors.

Looked like the reflection of the video taker to me.

I still think it should be turned in to a restaurant with the seating in the pyramid. I would love to dine with a view (kind of like upstairs in France).

It would be very cool to tie the concept of Imagination to a dining establishment, and I don't mean in a superficial way. Have creative combinations of food or crazy presentations. I'd also love to see an upstairs terrace as depicted in some of the earlier concept renderings added.

A trespasser that I know and used to work with, attempt to sleep in the tree House over night with some friends of hers. She told me they got caught and were asked to leave and threatened with a ban. This woman later went on to buy into the vacation club back when it was very new and was actually worth it. She was in the first Disney vacation club propaganda video, a former trespasser!
