Upgrading Resort using AP Booking Codes

We're leaving tomorrow for WDW (WHOO HOO) and have a reservation I booked thru American Airlines for AS Sports.. I cashed in some AA Miles and got my resort for free (about 430 dollar value according to them)...

My question is since they came out with the new AP Rate program, is it possible to switch my resort when I arrive and use the new AP Booking codes at the time of arrival? I don't know if that was something you could do in the past since I bought my AP after they started the Best Rate Progam (R.I.P. to that thing).

Hi there. As your vacation is tomorrow there is no way that I would recommend messing around with your reservation now. There could be fees and penalties involved which could be substantial considering how close to your trip you are. In addition, I wouldnt take the risk of having my room ressie messed up. Belle

oh.. I can't make any changes at this time... that I know... but I know and have changed my resort reservations when I arrived at the front desk... and my question was could you use an AP Booking code at the front desk to get that rate and switch resorts (paying the difference between my reservation and the new resort).....

absolutely not. Once a reservation is made a resort cannot make any changes to the original ressie, You would have to call and switch it through American Airlines, who would have to contact Disney, as that is who the original reservation was made through. Belle

I just got off the phone with WDW.... according to the lady I spoke with... I would be able to upgrade when I get there... and would be able to get the AP Rate.... I'm really hoping that she was correct... but you know you can always get different answers each time you call....

wish me luck....
