Upgrading regular tix to DVC annual passes?

Hey all,
for our current trip, we have 8-day passes. Didn't think we'd be able to go back within a year. It now looks like a remote possibility. I know we can update tickets to annual passes, but does anyone know if WDW would still give us the DVC discount on those annual passes if we did upgrade?

Thanks for any info you can pass along.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Here is the current pricing for AP's with blackout information and what's included with each pass. As DVC members we can get the gold, platinum, and platinum plus. :)

Slappy.

We do it about every year. Stay at a value/ mod on a free dining package, then convert the tix to AP's.

This month I converted my old AP to the new variety to get memory maker for our trip for about $25. There were about 200 photos and videos linked to me ticket.

Do it man!

Hi All.... I am a new DVC Member. AM I understanding this post. Can DVC members purchase annual passes even if they do not live in Florida. If I am doing the math correctly, my regular price for a 5 day pass without park hopper is $680 and the Disney Gold Pass which includes park hopping is $549. Is this correct?

Anyone can have an annual pass even if your not a Florida Resident, but us as DVC members get discounts on all passes and yes the Gold pass is only $549 but with the Gold you have blackout dates see the chart but it's not many. The other 2 priced DVC discounted passss have no black out dates. And yes AP's are essentially park hoppers being you have unlimited access to all the 4 main parks and with the Platinum Plus the most expensive one, you get unlimited access to Water parks and Disney Quest etc as well. Also all levels of AP's you can get as a DVC member comes with the memory maker for all year now too. :)

DVC members can indeed buy an AP with a discount. However, your numbers are off by a fair bit. A 5 day MYW ticket w/o hopper is about $362. Adding in hopper brings it up to $435ish. Not sure where you number came from, but the breakeven on an AP is usually more than 10 days of parks.

So I can convert my tickets to Annual passes when I arrive? If so where do I go? I got the park hopper for this trip and kicked myself that I did not spend right to save some cash as we are going twice in a year...

Yep, just go to any of the ticket booths and they will get you squared away!

Wow park hopping still allowed on annual passes?

Yes because with AP's you have unlimited access to all 4 main parks (minus blackout days for the Gold pass but platinum and up there is no blackout days) and if you get platinum plus you also get unlimited access to the 2 water parks, Disney quest etc. :)

Important note - you'll need to convert your passes to annual passes before they're all used up. As long as there's at least one day left on them, they can be upgraded either to an annual pass, or even if someone just wanted to add more days or the park hopper option or the water parks option. Yo can upgrade before you start using them. You can upgrade AFTER you start using them. But once they're all used up, that's that. Maybe a CM could pull some strings but technically, according to WDW's policy, that's that.
I didn't know the answer to my own question. But I know that, haha
