What was the bottom line here? I read a few days ago that snacks were upgraded to pastries, etc with a 4.00 limit. Is this so? 15 days to go!!!:sohappy:

What Can You Get With Snack Credits?

As of May 2006, Disney has expanded the items available with Dining Plan snack credits. Disney is now generally defining a "snack" on the Disney Dining Plan be an item under $4 (pre-tax), edible, non-alcoholic, non-merchandise and non-souvenir. Some items such as pizza slices are excluded.

Snacks can be redeemed at quick service or snack cart locations only. Quick-service and snack cart locations display a "dining plan" logo on their menus indicating items for which you can use your snack credits.

Among the items now available with Dining Plan snack credits:

- ice cream novelty
- frozen fruit bar
- box of popcorn
- 12 oz soft drink
- 20 oz Powerade
- 24 oz bottle of water
- piece of fruit
- bottled fruit juice
- flavored milk
- snack-sized bag of chips
- ice cream sundaes
- ice cream floats
- smoothies
- nachos
- bakery items
- Mickey rice krispy treats

It isn't EVERY item up to $4.00, but many of them. They have them well labled with a little sticker. Once in a while you will find a cart with nothing on the DP (there is one at Epcot, and no one was in line for that one, on a hot afternoon hmm.)

Most treats are included and there really is so many there isn't any way to get a good list.

One we noticed is soft pretels were on the list (3.50) but the diping cheese was another snack credit. ($1) you would be better off just paying cash for that. However since DD is allegic to milk it wasn't an issue for us.

All in all the new options on the dining plan was great. We were keeping track of how much we would of spent and it came for around $10 a day for snacks (for 3 people.)

The dining plan is a great deal if you use it. If you don't it seems to make things harder and more $ now a days. Oh well. At least DVC can get it now.

We found the use of the stickers pretty inconsistant 'round the world. Just because the cart or counter didnt have little stickers besides the items did not mean they werent available on the plan.

Someone needs to go around and put more little stickers up! Educating the cast members on the Dining plan further would be a help too.

My advice-- read up on the plan beforehand.

If the item is just over $4.00 with the tax can you just pay the extra or does it have to be under $4.00 including tax?

It's not EVERYTHING under 4 bucks, for example: A bucket of popcorn is only 3.75, however it's not on the plan. And nor can you pay the extra dollar and get the bucket. :)

They need to add the popcorn in the bucket to the plan.

C'mon now....popcorn is really really cheap to make!

Popcorn is really cheap to make, but a cardboard box is cheaper than a plastic souvenir bucket. We noticed that anything that was considered a "souvenir" like those bottle lanyards, cups, etc.. were not included.

^Wen we ate at 1900 Park Fare, glow cubes were included with our drinks. I'd thought they weren't included, but alas...

(It was a pretty good souvenir, all told, especially having fun trying to put the dang things out. )
