Upcoming Paradise Pier Additions/Improvements

Continuing progress on the shops, the blue stucco has been replaced with wood paneling, and the former Man Hat N' Beach clown has a new facade. I want to see the finished product before I say anything but it just looks very temporary, just like the area that replaced Maliboomer.

The railings along the pier have been painted a dark green instead of the former teal color, which looks much better.

From today's Dateline Disneyland, these are some of the latest pictures of this little beautification project in the corner of Paradise Pier.

The cheap stucco from 2001 is going away! Somewhere, Paul Pressler is crying as the last of his park that no one understood gets covered up before this summer's massive re-launch. Maybe they sent Mr. Pressler the clown for his backyard? :lookaroun

Most of the facade has had its stucco covered over with beadboard wood paneling. They still have some painting to do, plus the installation of light fixtures and some details, but you can already see what an improvement this is.

Here's a ceiling section where the stucco still exists for a few more days, with modern can light fixtures and just a cheap strip-mall aesthetic.

And here's a nearby section where they've put the new wood paneling over the ceiling as well, with rows of vintage popcorn lights yet to be installed.

This project that is part of DCA's broader "Project Sparkle" is a simple and inexpensive fix, but it makes a huge difference for this little complex of stores in the corner!

It looks so much better, certainly it could look better(like fully enclosing the Screamn' supports) but an improvement over what was once there. I'm still convinced something will replace these shops and Maliboomer park in a few years.

Mean while across the bay, the repaving project continues.

It also begs the question since the massive set of walls sit there before, during and after World of Color shows. Could a nighttime parade actually be possible to run before the first WOC, between shows or after WOC?

Currently there's no time in between shows...there's only about 10-15 minutes after the guests from the first show are gone till second show gets loaded in. That would be madness for guest control. And the blue and yellow queues take over the parade route anyways. Unless they extended park hours and had significant time in between the two shows. If they did that then they wouldn't have to worry about queuing up the second show. They could treat it like the first where you return straight to the viewing area.

What I think could possibly work is a nighttime parade right when the sun goes down and then one WoC show. But then you also have to factor in the fireworks and when those would go off. haha

^ Good points! I forgot how fast they reload the viewing area.

DEP starting the night would be nice but I can defiantly see that bad domino effect. Maybe after all showings of WOC are done for the night and DCA has longer hours?

Of course we would still need DEP to actually make it back here. I do wonder if DEP will ever make it back, certainly a brand new nighttime parade would be nice and amazing. It was great to see it at MK parading down Main Street like it should but if DCA could have another offering I wouldn't be against it.
