Upcoming Confirmed/Rumored Movie Timeline!

Do you regard movie-fying a book or comic book or public domain tale as original? Or just movies that are original screenplays?

Yes, I was basically meaning anything the studios had not tried before as a movie. (I said, "yes, including their adaptations of fairy tales they had never done before," and I assumed fairy tales came from books -- but the idea applies broadly.)

Movies adapted from books for the first time are still a new adventure for the studio and generally for the public.

But overall I am just sad at exactly how "franchise"-driven its entire slate has become -- again compared to either "golden age" of Disney (the original one or the "new" one in the late eighties and early nineties. Look at their output then and compare it to today on willingness to present new stories on film.

Are you talking the Animation Studios, the Film Studios, or both?

The items listed in this thread were what prompted my statement, but my sentiment is meant overall. I am simply lamenting the lack of imagination the entire studio (live action, animation, all of it) has demonstrated in what they have greenlit lately. I am not opposed to some sequels or remakes, but it looks like that is all they try these days. The Walt Disney Company has had fits and starts of originality through the years, of course, but they ARE the company who created "The Lion King" from scratch, gave us "Mary Poppins" (yes, and adaptation but original in that and many other ways), invented the theme park, and on and on. I am simply saddened that the innovation is overwhelmed by the "safe" remake/franchise concept. I was simply expressing that looking at the slate on the previous page was a little saddening. No, a lot saddening.

It was an overall statement.

Reports say Josh Gad is currently only connected to the movie as producing. I would imagine he will star in it, but as of yet he is only been mentioned as being a producer from what I have read.

Zootopia 3
VERY UNLIKELY
Multiple sources saying it won't happen.
It's not that it won't happen, its more that their only focus right now is the idea that they might do a second. A third is not in discussion. All they were trying to say is that the rumor that they are talking about making a third now is not true. They aren't talking about a third right now. Their are discussions right now on possibly making a second (but who knows if the right people needed want this right now)

Yes I know, that is why I put in big letters VERY UNLIKELY. But yes, the second is in development

3 "live-action" remakes in 4 months. :banghead: As this is a prime example of the total lack of creativity and vision in TWDC management these days, at all levels involved, you won't see me giving any of them my entertainment dollars.

Oh gee, what ever will Zootopia 2 be about? Let me guess - Another TV police story stretched out to feature-film length.
