When people talk about food at Disney, the discussion always leads to Cinderella's Royal Table, Le Cellier, and the like.

On our fam trip in May, we're looking to try somewhere different - maybe out of the way, maybe on the down low. I'm looking for testimonials from those who know best!

Where's your favourite place to eat and why? What's your favourite meal? Is it reasonably priced?

Looking forward to hearing from you all =)

My family and I love sci fi drive in and garden grill. Garden grill does have characters that come around and the food is served family style. The service is very good and would eat at Garden Grill again in a heartbeat.

The Plaza Restaurant - Solid, if a little basic, lunch fare in a nice dining room.
Kona Cafe (for dinner) - Good, tasty meals in beautiful surroundings. Bonus points if you time your meal to watch Wishes from the beach before or after your meal.
Yak and Yeti Restaurant - Another overlooked (or just under-mentioned) restaurant. I've enjoyed every meal I've had here and the restaurant itself is nice and very well-themed.
Marrakesh - Nice surroundings, good food, yet tragically overlooked.

It's been several years since I've been but in 2010 we went to the Trails End at the ft wilderness resort and it was reasonably priced and the food was pretty good.

Any of the Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants.
Jiko is my favorite, but all of the AKL restaurants offer unique menus and a cool atmosphere. I'd look at their menus and see if any of them would suit you.

Olivia's Café
Because Old Key West is kind of out of the way, not many people consider Olivia's unless they're staying at the resort. It's worth traveling for, though. The ambiance is really laid back, breakfast is good, and dinner is great. It's one of my favorite non-signature dinners. Heed the advice of the wait staff there. They know and love their menu!

The Cabana Bar
Yes, seriously. The pool bar at the Dolphin. It's a really good lunch spot with a decent sampling of draft beers, unique drinks, and delicious bites. The sandwiches, tacos, salads and flatbreads are all excellent. In fact, I've never had anything there that I didn't absolutely love.

Oh there are so many great restaurants that people hardly ever mention! Our new favorite is La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot. The taquiza appetizer is soooo good! :D Its an appetizer that could easily fill you up and serve as your entrée. They also have really good chips and salsa. I am kind of obsessed with chips and salsa and there's is really good! On our November trip we ate there right before IllumiNations and we were still in the restaurant when it started. It was an amazing viewing location! We were so close to the fireworks, it was slightly frightening, but really cool. I highly recommend this restaurant. I didn't find their prices to be too high either which is always a plus.

*I will be adding more info and pictures of the food from La Hacienda in my trip report. I hope to get that posted tonight, if you want to read more about our experience there! :D
