It should also be noted that Six Flags has really cleaned up their act since the mid-2000s.

The mid-2000s, which most people remember, had Six Flags with: in attentive employees (typically on the call boxes to other rides chatting about nothing), rude employees, garbage everywhere (it was normal that cans were overflowing all the time), rides that needed painting, etc.

Since then, they've cleaned things up. Polite employees. Attentive employees. A lot more flower beds than before. Generally clean. Trashcans maintained. Rides looking pretty good.

Six Flags was Craptown 10+ years back. They've really come a long way.

I thought Universal was pretty rundown when I first visited it in 2012. I think Potter was open then. Potter was fine. Everything else seemed "blah" and neglected. Since then they seem to be making their way around each of the parks and redoing/improving everything step-by-step.
No. Went to a Six Flags last year and grass was overgrown, shingles were falling off overhangs and crumbled on the paths, employees didn’t speak to you unless you spoke to them first and the worst one: every food service establishment we went to was absolutely deplorable. These things were so bad that I tweeted about them and within minutes got a response from their corporate HQ. There is no reason for a Six Flags Park to look like something you’d find in an abandonded neighborhood.
The fire effect on Mummy hasn't worked for months, the fog effect and waterfall are out on RipSaw, 2 of the dinosaur shooters were broken in Camp Jurassic, and the creatures on Caro-Suessel are a mess(I actually wrote to guest services about it they were so bad). They are in expansion mode and only seem to be keeping the HP areas in tip top shape. I always assumed the team members that worked in certain areas reported breaks/repairs needed and they could be attended to promptly. Guess not.
Yet how many effects have been out for 10 YEARS or more at Disney?

We were told the fire effects were turned off on The Mummy for construction for what it is worth.

We just got back from a weeklong stay. I can't speak to the parking garages, but the parks and CityWalk were not rundown. We saw them repainting areas outside of HP. There will always be some additional work that could be done or some effect that needs fixing. But it was no worse than what we are accustomed to.

Thank you, I guess I’m not totally crazy then.

Seuss Landing in general looks bad. I remember this topic used to spark arguments about whether or not the paint was supposed to look faded. It’s supposed to be saturated pastel colors, not dirty and sun bleached. The way they paint the ground in Seuss Landing also adds to the run down look. I don’t understand why they don’t use colored asphault or whatever it is, which would look much better.

Which Six Flags park?

And I started this because I don’t want Universal to fall back on their ride upkeep like Disney has. I’ve seen it declining and my recent visit was as bad as the resort was pre-Potter.

Sad to hear that they seem to be letting the parks go in terms of upkeep.

How is the KidZone area in USF doing? Last time I was there, it was looking absolutely sad. Especially the Curious George play area. Broken faucets everywhere. :(

They pretty much need to overhaul that entire area except for E.T. (I know Spielberg won't let it close anyway) and the SpongeBob store. Everything else is absolutely run-down and dated, compared to the rest of the park. Barney isn't that relevant to children anymore, and neither is An American Tail.

I haven’t been to that one in over 10 years so I can’t speak for it. The only one I’ve been to recently was Great America in Chicago and it was pretty clean. Though they have signs proclaiming they’re the “cleanest theme park in the world!” and that’s definitely not true, but it’s not a dump. Everything was acceptable.
Heyyy I said no comparisons to the yeti in my OP

We spent some time in the Curious George play area. It didn't look new or anything, but we didn't come across a single broken faucet. The car in the center was roped off. Other than that, everything we interacted with worked fine.

I believe the Curious George area was refurbished recently.

Good then! At least they're keeping it up. The last time I saw it was a couple of years ago, so they must have had to do something about it eventually.

At one point, it was rumored to be on the chopping block. So it makes sense that a couple years ago they were letting that area go a bit. Obviously, I would like them to keep up any areas that are open to guests, but it's not realistic to think that they are going to invest a lot in maintenance of a playground slated for demolition.

Ripsaw Falls is in horrific condition. Absolutely atrocious. 6 Flags quality bad.

I notice this some, when I was there in May. It makes you a bit nervous, when you are walking in and the ride is leaking.
I would understand splashing, but this was leaking from beneath the ride onto the queue.

It reallllly frustrates me to see them p---ing away the improved reputation they built for themselves from 2010-2015. The parks are looking the worst they've ever looked. The attractions have a plethora of show issues. Three mediocre rides in a row, capping it off with one of the biggest turds of an attraction ever made. I can't believe this is the same resort I was singing praises for just three years ago.

I went to that park a couple summers ago. I agree 100%-it was nothing short of awful. Their new signature ride was a cheap county fair Larson Looper which barely had a line. Food lines were awful, park was dirty, rides looked rundown. Aside from Metropolis, the rest of the park needed help.
