Unsure about Akershus

If it is just Belle in the gold dress you are going for, I would go with the meet and greet next to Tony's. When I was there I got to spend time with Cindy, Punzel, and gold dress Belle. Just make sure to ask at Town Hall for the lineup and check the poster inside the building which shows the princesses that are there at the time. They get "tea time" for 15 minutes after talking to people every 45 minutes.

That might be a better option for us. I've never gone to any of the big M&G locations. How bad are the waits? Are there FPs for these?

The waits were usually 30-45 minutes when I was there. You can fastpass it. If you want to meet Rapunzel, make sure you go in the morning. She is only out until 4 and sometimes she leaves early. It took me 5 days to get a chance to meet her without standing for a great deal of time. I just grabbed a fastpass, ate breakfast with Eeyore, and then went over to see the girls. BEST DAY EVER!

We've eaten at Akershus twice and CRT twice. While I love the castle, I think the service and food are better at Akershus.

I had mushroom ravioli last visit...

We are huge fans of the cold buffet...

I also had the kjottkake on our first trip...basically big meatballs...

After dropping 1900 PF the other night to make room for BoG, I realized I was without a true princess meal...so I opted for Akershus over CRT. They do have chicken breast and beef tips (which DH had last time and enjoyed) on the menu...so I would think you could find something there appealing that isn't pork or fish.

Either way- we enjoy it and would recommend it if you're looking for a princess meal.

Oh... um, I don't eat fish either. It's chicken, turkey, or steak for this girl!
It was one-time meal for us. We didn't think it was bad, but it wasn't good enough to do again. I'm not a fish or pork person either, so I didn't enjoy it, but my daughter did enjoy the raw salmon. Yuk. Small warning, if you are going with another family sitting at the same table and you both want the free 8X10, they only gave us one. Since I made the reservation for both of us, it was considered one party. There were two moms and two daughters, but we could only get one free 8X10. If we had known that, we would have made separate reservations at the same time and asked to sit together. No big deal, but just wanted to let others know.

We really enjoyed it - last time at CRT was horrible (I have been and loved it 4 times before) so bad that we actually go our credits back. The princesses just blew past us and they had changed the menu and the waiter said they had not changed it - I pulled it up on the my phone and proved they had changed it.

In Norway it was relaxed and the princesses all stayed at the table and actually conversed. When the princesses saw their signatures already in my girls' books they would say - OH I thought you looked familiar it is so nice that you are visiting again.

I had the pork which was great and my husband liked the chicken. The salad bar is very interesting but fun to try different food. Now the dessert - there was this tapioca thing and it was so good they brought us seconds of it.

Everything is a matter of taste - I liked it and would go back.

I don't care that much about the princess meal, it was just for a convenient opportunity to meet Belle in her yellow dress. We chose CRT because it's the castle and it seems super awesome to eat there! Cinderella really isn't my favorite princess... As for food, I have a yeast allergy, so I can't eat mushrooms (guess the ravioli is out) or bread either. It's sounding like this place just might not be for us...

They do have a chicken dish, beef tips, and meatballs on the menu, but the beef tips are served in a mushroom gravy so that wouldn't work for you either. As others mentioned, you can see Belle in her yellow dress at the meet and greet next to Tony's, and you can even get a fastpass to do it. That might definitely work better for you and then you can eat at a restaurant that has food you could eat.

I think this is the route we'll take! My fiance LOVES mushrooms, so it sounds like this might be a restaurant he would enjoy, but I don't want to waste a meal where the only thing I am able to eat is the chicken. He said he'd rather go somewhere without princesses anyway. Can't imagine why...

DH & I went for lunch on our 1st anniversary trip, and we wouldn't go back for lunch. It wasn't that it was horrible, but it wasn't great, and it was an expensive lunch. We felt rushed. The Princesses were less rushed at CRT both times we went there. I might give Akershus's breakfast a shot, since I've heard it's better.

That being said, everyone has different experiences & different tastes. I would try it once if the menu sounds good to you. =)

we've eaten at Akershus for breakfast and dinner and loved both. I think we had better interaction with more princesses in the morning but maybe it was just an off night at our dinner. it's a fantastic deal on the DP (not sure if you're on it) because you get the photo with Belle. I thought the food was good especially the beef tips.

I love the Traditional Kjottkake - Norweigian meatballs served with Mashed Potatoes, seasonal Vegetables, and Lingonberry Sauce and the Seared Herb-dusted Beef Tips - in wild mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.. My DW loves the Oven-roasted Chicken Breast - with fennel hash, tomato jam and chive oil. We have only had lunch or dinner and everything is so good.

I would say that if you don't eat seafood, skipping Norway and Japan is probably a good idea, and likely you would do that in your regular day to day life. Sure they serve chicken, pork and beef, but Scandinavians are known for their seafood as are the Japanese.

Still, it's Belle and there are plenty of things to eat there.

I have to say that this was the one dinner that our family of 4 (2 picky eaters, 2 not) unanimously hated at Disney over many years. The service was fine, and the princess interaction was wonderful, but we all hated the food. If you don't like the foods that you've listed as not liking, then I strongly suggest you go here for a late breakfast and call it brunch (since your fiance doesn't like to go out for breakfast), or skip it altogether.

Akersush has "Safe" Norwegian food. Nothing too crazy, nothing like a plate of lutefisk is going to jump out at you. Being part Norwegian and having a grandmother that was born in Norway, everything that was there is very "americanized" and caters to American tastes.

However, having said there, there are many many people living in America who, if it is not a grilled chicken breast or broiled steak, go screaming into the night. That's not a bad thing (nor is it a good thing). The thing to remember is that it is a Norwegian restaruant, and while it attempts to serve items that appeal to all, they do have a Norewgian flair to them. If you are a picky eater, chances are you are not going to be happy in ANY ethnic restaruant.

As for CRT - I would never go back there again. Poor service, rushed interactions, and food that is clearly cranked out the of kitchen as fast and cheaply as possible. If it was not in the castle, there would be no draw whatsoever.

I love ethnic food and I have no problem trying new things, but I don't like fish and I don't eat pork. The yeast allergy is out of my control. I have tried many of the other countries and have ADRs for several more! As long as its poultry, veggies, or the occasional steak, I'm good to go! :) Due to my dietary restrictions I think we'll switch to Garden Grill.
