Universal's Dueling Dragons...

Little of both, I guess.
Working with WDI requires a company to provide a truly custom job, with WDI having creative control over the entire project. B&M don't like to work that way. They like to take the order, then just be left alone to build the ride as they see fit. Nothing really wrong with that, they build great rides. However, there is no way the two sides could get along.
Actually, if I remember the story correctly, Uni and B&M butted heads over Hulk's launch. Uni wanted a launch...B&M said "No. We don't do launches." So, Uni Creative had to design and implement the spinning-tire launch for Hulk without B&M's help.

B&M knows what it can and can't do well. That is why their products always come out great, but "safe" (not injury safe, but push the limit safe). For Universal they know they couldn't do a launch perfect, so they said no.

True.
I haven't ridden a B&M that I didn't like, I don't think. Well.....maybe Scream at SFMM. WAY to much shimmy and bump for a new ride. (I rode it less than 6 months after opening.)

I've heard that about Scream. Medusa (east) has that same issue, though it took years to appear.

Scream is the roughest steel coaster I've ever been on...they should change the name to Headache.

Oh come on, what about Viper (now gone but formerly at Six Flags Great Adventure), any of the old Schwarzkopf coasters, or even Ninja at Six Flags over Georgia.

Shoot, I surely wish disney would create some more roller coasters. Some that were mammoth and record breaking, but have a clear concise story and theme similar to everest.

And I hope they never do. I can deal with Rockin Roller Coaster being there, but I think that's even too intense.

Disney is in a tough spot because they want to stay kid friendy even though they are in a battle with Universal for the teen and tween market.

I doubt you'll see a record breaker at disney. Coaters have been pushed so far it would cost a ton to build only to have another company come in and beat they by a small margin (Top Thrill Dragster). Plus record breaking coasters tend to be one trick ponys with no real theme other then we break records.

They went in and pretty much totaly redid the PLC and electrical systems. Intamin won't touch it anymore....or so I hear.

I've heard the same thing and I don't understand why. Intamin would have been willing to work with them on it, and they would have been far better off not doing it theself. Yes there is a cost brining Intamin in but for example if there is an incident on the ride, at least they can point to Intamin then instead of being blamed themselves and having Intamin say it's been changed so much it's not their problem anymore. (Not that that happened or anything)

If my foggy memory serves me at all, I sorta remember that Universal Studios hired away a few Disney people way before IoA was on paper. These people used/brought their ride engineering/design knowledge to
IoA and you have DD and a few other rides. This goes wayyyy back in time, about 15 years or so. They were hired after the original studios opened at Universal. Right now I don't have the time to research on orlandosentinel.com to find the article.

It is true that some left for Universal however any ideas that were on the board at Disney couldn't not be brought to Universal. Ideas Disney employees come up with are property of Disney. If it was ripped off Disney could sue, even if they didn't use the idea.

Disney did not creat the idea for this ride. They were offered the ride first it was going to go in AK in the Asia area, but Disney turned it down because they had ideas of a indoor rollercoaster (EE). So the company that Disney turned down went right to Universal IOA and they bought the ride. And I think it fits the theam over in IOA, I can not picture a Out door Rollercoaster that big in Asia or in Disney for that fact.

Just a point of order, it wasn't going to be in Asia. It was going to be in Beastley Kingdomme.

Scream is rough? Huh? I rode it back in 2005 and it was pretty smooth, but had no forces! It wasn't Scream, but Snooze!

If you want rough, try Psyclone! Thank goodness that was demolished.
