I know this isn't a USH forum but this seems like the most sensible place to put this question....

I was wondering if there is a way to board a tram at USH just to ride Kong 360?

We visited USH in September and spent two days there....
On the second visit we wanted to ride Kong 360 but minus the long tour which we had done earlier that week but there didn't appear to be a way to do this.

Is there and we missed it or is it something that has ever been considered?

IMO it could slide into Disaster nicely but a section of a fictional water park ie Skull Island would be the best fit.

It's "Brilliant" as we say here in the UK lol it is a little short though.
What is the running time is it really that much shorter than some other attractions?

The attractions that are part of the studio tour are not thought of as individual attractions. The studio tour is the attraction, and they are simply part of it.

I rode this last summer, and as entertaining it was, it's little more than a nice diversion from the rest of the Studio Tour. There isn't nearly enough to warrant a full attraction.

They spent enough $$$ on it to warrant a full attraction.... But I suppose most of that was insurance pay out money.
Before transformers they certainly marketed it like a full attraction.

This issue is, as a story, the ride just doesn't work as a solo attraction. During the actual Tour, the collaboration with Peter Jackson and Weta Digital is emphasized just as much as the 3D technology, which connects to the theme of the Studio Tour well.

Make it a solo attraction, and the story is nothing more than "what if a studio tour was touring Skull Island and got caught in the middle of a Kong vs. Dino fight?". There would be some major retooling to be done to make it work on its own, and frankly, the material presented is far more suited for a Spider-Man/Transformers type attraction if adapted as a solo ride.

It wouldn't be worth losing an attraction in Orlando. I rode it recently and although it was cool, it wasn't done well enough. I feel like the 3D projection was poor and the screen should of been placed higher. Seeing the roof really ruined it for me. I emailed Bob Gurr about his thoughts on it, he was the one who designed the oringial King Kong AA that burnt down. I think he put it best...

"The current UST King Kong 360 3D is just movie clips from Peter Jackson, who sold Universal on this cheap KK replacement scheme. It's not well received by prior KK guests, including me. It's just sort of a dinosaur movie with a few giant monkeys jumping about." -Bob Gurr
