Here is the current list of rides. None of this is "official" but there is visible construction on most of these. So 11 rides with 4 coasters.

LandTypeNameSub type
How to Train Your DragonRideCoasterCoaster
Super NintendoRideDonkey KongCoaster
Universal MonstersRideFamily CoasterCoaster
HubRideStarfall RacersCoaster
Super NintendoRideYoshiDark Ride
Super NintendoRideMario CartDark Ride
Universal MonstersRideKuka Arm rideDark Ride

How to Train Your DragonRideInteractive Boat RideWater Ride

So 36% of the new attractions on opening day will be a roller coaster.

That's a percentage too far in my opinion.

Im def looking forward to a few of the rides in this park, DK Coaster, Monsters dark ride, HP dark ride and starfall racers all look promising. The lands themselves look cool as well even if some of the attractions arent for me. HTTYD land looks like it will be gorgeous and kind of like adventure land/dr seuss land, im digging it. NintendoLand is great ambience and Monsters as well. Im sure HP land will look great as well though Im kind of sick of HP based lands. Cant wait to visit this park in a couple years! also this park is opening with more rides than DHS, AK or Epcot has now!

I don't think you should be viewing % of coasters of total attractions as a way to critique the park. We're getting 3 stellar dark rides and a decent one in Yoshi.

I would love to have more dark rides, but receiving 3 E-ticket dark rides from the start is something most newer parks don't even get.
  • DAK opened with only Dinosaur
  • DCA opened with only Superstar Limo (not even an E-ticket)
  • DHS opened with only the Great Movie Ride
  • IOA originally opened with Spiderman and Cat in the Hat (not even an E-ticket)
I would love more dark rides, but the fact we're getting 4-ish from the start is pretty remarkable to begin with.

DHS still to this day has 4 dark rides (Tower, Runaway, Toy Story, Rise)
DAK has 2 (Dinosaur, Na'vi)
Epcot has 6 (Spaceship, Gran Fiesta, Frozen, Remy, Figment, Nemo)

so... EU is pretty average when it comes to dark rides in a park.

Maybe some type of live “retelling” of the Monster stories inside the land? Not a stage show per se, but some type of offering in a central area.

I’m blue-skying.
I’d imagine the land would seem “safe” for tourist during the day & as we get closer to night the monsters start reclaiming different areas within the land. Have locals tell stories of the monsters during the day. As we get closer to sunset, the monsters will come out & be presented in a similar way they present the Death Eaters in Hogsmeade during HHN. It would be cool and make the land something you have to see during the day and night. I still hope they have actual meet & greets too though. The possibilities are endless, I love everyone’s ideas.

I posted the list just to see what negative things you would say about it. I was not disappointed.

At least it is opening with more rides then Disney MGM, Epcot or Animal Kingdom had on opening day.
I do think they will need several more attractions quite quickly.

I’d give Epcot Test Track as well.

I guess it depends on how many non-ride attractions there are going to be that we don't know about yet. DHS and AK still don't have 11 rides.
To be fair, Universal should not be comparing themselves to two woefully underbuilt older parks such as these. They should be aiming higher, instead using their own previous gate as a point of reference, and I think those expansion pads Epic will open with need to start being activated much sooner than IOA's were, not just because there will be a lot more opportunities for future expansion (with at least one of them coming at the expense of a cancelled ride), but also because Epic's opening day attraction lineup will seemingly be lacking variety.

IOA opened with three major water rides; Epic will have only one water ride, and its scale sounds a bit iffy. IOA also had more flat rides and added an additional one within the first year. Then there were the two walkthrough attractions and the three playgrounds for the kids, with Epic seemingly having nothing comparable except the games in SNW (although we probably don't know about everything.) The only reason Epic will have an advantage in shows is because all of IOA's have been shuttered (something that needs fixing ASAP.) How long can Epic's stay open? Regardless, this won't be the worst start a new park can have, but they'll still have their work cut out for them. This isn't actually a praiseworthy opening day lineup, some of the previous ones were just inexcusably dreadful (and given those parks' current ages & ticket prices, their lineups still are!)

I think this is a respectable opening lineup. This is close to the same number of rides that Magic Kingdom opened with. Yes, they will probably expand quickly, but this is a pretty good start.

There will be a play area in How to Train Your Dragon, and as I said we still need to see if there will be other things that we don't currently know about.

Not to mention basically all of SNW will be a "play area."

It’s crazy that at one point in time they were considering even more shows. Not just the Monsters show but finally bringing Waterworld to Orlando was also considered.

The shortage of enclosed theaters is disappointing in a Central Florida summer. USF is a great park in the summer because almost everything is inside a large building. Yes, the buildings are ugly and IoA is a much prettier park, but it definitely is rough in 95 degrees or in downpours.

And Potter will have the wand thing.

I think Epic's line up is pretty strong for a new park.

4 Coasters (3 Family, 1 Thrill)
3 State of the Art Dark Rides
1 Interactive Kids "Dark Ride"
2 Theater Shows
2 Flat Rides
1 Interactive Boat Ride
1 Fountain/Night Show
1 Playground
Interactivity in Nintendo and Potter Lands
M&Gs (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, DK, Hiccup and Toothless, and probably some Classic Monsters)

I have heard the both of the shows are going to be pretty high tech shows so I am sure Universal will count them as attractions. Here is what is rumored to be coming to HTTYD land. It opened with Universal's new park in Beijing last year.

So that would bring the attraction count to at least 13, not including M&Gs and Fountain/Night Show.

It’s definitely enough to warrant an additional day at UOR. That’s more than could have been said for MGM or DAK on opening day.

Yup. I think we can make a pretty good point that Universal is only lagging WDW by half a day of experiences. DHS/DAK are half day parks, Epcot/MK are full day parks. So 3ish full days. USF/IOA offer a day and a half worth's of experiences as they are best experiences together and Epic will be a full day park.

Obviously excluding water parks, but both resorts now offer the same number of water parks anyways lol

Was thinking about the benefits of a "How To Train Your Dragon" section. It occurred to me while trying to see if there was any hope for a Lord of the Rings park. There apparently is very little chance. With the live-action HTTYD, Universal can create their own family-friendly version of the LORT/Game of Thrones/House of Dragons/Renaissance genre franchise. If they expand the story to create a new trilogy of sorts, it could be really cool (without the added burden of the typical "Disney hate" attached because it's Universal). We've never gotten into the HTTYD franchise, but a well-done live action trilogy or saga could really be something big for Universal.
