This is better than the livestream, which I'm finding a little obnoxious. The hosts are awful.

I know Patrick is a former Universal employee and prominent influencer, but I don't think he was the best choice.

Makes you wish they'd done a lavish, celebrity and music filled pre-recorded TV special instead like theme parks used to get.

I recently re-watched "Welcome to the World", the 1975 TV-special used to promote the opening of Space Mountain.

It's camp. It's cringe. But it's certainly an entertaining spectacle and you know how difficult it would have been to film that opening number (which took several days to do).

What do tap dancing toy soldiers have to do with Space Mountain? Absolutely nothing. But it's a fun moment and if you're going to put on a show, you might as well go big and make it something worth watching.

The opening special for Euro Disney is the gold standard IMO. Did a good job highlighting the park, and spotlighting the various lands, lots of musical performances, moments like the castle lighting, etc. It gets you hyped to go to DLP.

No
That could've been longer, especially since it took them 4 hours to get there, but it's such a shame they don't have a permanent nighttime spectacular for this park at opening, because it was clearly designed for one.
Just seeing that park come alive with lights and effects... This isnt like Magic Kingdom where the castle is the only focal point, everywhere you looked in that show something in the park was alive with lights or motion. This park has the most potential of any park for a fantastic nighttime show.

This livestream is truly insufferable. The hosts and the amount of forced corporate speak and phrases and wording they annd everyone they’re interviewing are required to use is hitting critical mass. Just an endless spew of bullet points they’re required to get across. Amazing. Incredible. Brilliant. Immersive.

I get that it’s just a big ad for the park but still, corporations really need to dial down this stuff because when they lay it on this heavy, it has the opposite effect of what they’re going for.

This.

It was a bit much, and the hosts were not appealing to me….but a few segments covering the different lands had a few nuggets of interest.

The pyro finale, with Mr. Spielberg’s added commentary, was worth the suffering however.
Nostalgic to me because I recall Steven was there in person to cut the ribbon on Opening Day for Universal’s first Orlando Theme Park all those years ago.

Watching the fireworks and park lighting moving in sync with the music makes me wish fireworks wasn't just a one-time thing or only used for special events.
