Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

Tickets are not sold out, the website is, per usual, messed up.

The project is expensive, but remember these numbers being thrown out are vague and can include a lot of things (resort hotels, transportation system enhancements, etc.)

It's not just a theme park, it's an entire new bus fleet with maintenance & charging locations, infrastructure, Team Member Back of House projects, warehouses, new Universal Creative headquarters, etc.

Just a reminder, we also do not know how many tickets they are selling each day, how many are in the single ticket pool, etc. A sell out day could mean they are being conservative, and may add more to any bucket.

They are severely limiting this park's capacity the first few weeks.

I'm fine with that, but I have a big issue with the lack of information from them in advance. Had a friend who ended up booking a hotel and is now opting to cancel or visit WDW instead.

It's odd they waited this long.

I don't disagree. They should have released more info in advance. The other side IMO is many not willing to change their mindset of Universal being an add on to a Disney vacation.

I can only see June at the moment - do I just have to wait on the screen for more months to load?

EDIT: Seems to be an issue not being in the US - currently in a phone queue.

EDIT: Done

One man’s review, so I wouldn’t put too much into it. Like anything else there is good and bad. In no way is this the Disney killer they were hoping for.

…and later in the comments they say Epic is the #1 park for attractions in Orlando 🙄

Again, the way you’ve worded your comments calls into question if you have been to Epic. I’m still waiting to hear your thoughts on the rides you’ve been on.

You are inconsequential, so it’s okay.
Think what you like. They are your thoughts after all.

Yes, my thoughts based on experiencing everything this park has to offer (except MoM) multiple times over multiple days.

Is the park a Disney killer? To me nothing can kill the draw that is the magic and nostalgia of Orlando’s castle park. But will this park take another full day of a theme park visitor’s vacation in Orlando from Disney? It absolutely will, and that’s why it was built.

Totally, short term. There is a scenario though playing out right now that can bite universal in the butt. It’s early but the ticket sales are not what they should be. With the economy about to take a major dump I can see this park being a noose around Universals neck for the foreseeable future. I can also see Disney and Universal cancelling a lot of projects in the future. Universal is basing expansion on big sales this summer and moving forward. I am not sure that happens.

Another problem. This park needs more attractions and Universal is in horrific shape outside of potter.
Another big mistake by Universal is building all of those economy hotels on I4. That group of tourists are not going to drive revenue.

I’m not going to read the post you’re replying to bc it seems like it might annoy me but hey — I wouldn’t call TDS my #1 park for attractions and it’s still my favorite!
A park Hopper to WDW is $253.47 for 1 day; these 1 day prices aren't bad in comparison...

I don't think Universal ever thought Epic was going to be a Disney killer. What Epic is supposed to do is make Universal a 4-5 night vacation with Disney being the add on.
That’s what Universal/Comcast executives are hoping for and it’s also the justification for this investment.

I don’t see it happening.

that sounds WAAAY too optimistic, and I like universal. I’m nervous that if it falls short, execs will pull back on the investment.

I don’t think Epic will ever be a full on euro Disney impact but still. That is not a good recipe. Hope it works out

Epic the park will be great
