Universal Capacity

School systems are notoriously strict with attendance. For many families, holiday weeks are the only time to vacation... except also during the unbearable Summer Florida heat.

That could all change if enough parents wanted it to. They can run for school boards or vote in those who sympathize with off-cycle vacations.

Maybe the practice so many have had with remote schooling could change that.

But yeah, I plan my WDW vacations for the first weeks of Oct, Dec, and Feb.

Yeah...but they’re wrong

(The rest I agree with)

Idk about other places, but where I live, school policies became stricter specifically because of off-cycle WDW vacations.

It will be interesting to see. This episode should actually de-emphasize obsessions with routines and schedules and benchmarks...

...which means the exact opposite is going to happen

That is not my experience here on WDWMagic. This forum has been around long enough with so many established members that the consensus has shifted from "Universal = Bad!" to "Universal is the anti-Disney and we use them to shame Disney!"

... which, I do believe is also misguided. Universal does some things better than Disney, sure, but there's still plenty of areas where they still do worse.

I’m not saying EVERYONE here bashes universal. That is not so. But there are posters here who will slam universal just because it doesn’t start with a “D”...very easy for Scotland Yard to find.

That’s not the forum’s flaw/fault...it’s just part of the deal when you’re a fan of a huge corporate entity that is a well oiled PR machine alluding to magic dust and mysticism.

This is certainly the most broad-minded one. :)

I just wanted to repost this excellent recap of the creepy obsession some people have developed based on marketing which started in the late ‘90s.

If today’s Pixie Dusters could take a time machine back to the early–mid ‘60s, they wouldn’t recognize Walt’s company. Its vision was far more ambitious than selling princess toys.

Our governor has said that they can open up to full strength. Universal is doing that. Disney is still being smart and limiting it to 35%. I'm not sure what SeaWorld is holding capacity at but it is limited too. I think they need a visit from the Orange county strike team to take a visit and slap them with a fine like they are doing at other businesses in the county.

I don't agree with them doing this just saying that our governor doesn't care and he just wants money flowing into the state and around the state.
And just what rule or law would your beloved "strike team" charge them with violating?? Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean they are breaking actual laws...

And when the state RELIES on tax revenue from these place just what would you do when the MONEY runs out to run programs that people rely on to LIVE? California will be in huge world of hurt in the next few years for refusing to even acknowledge there is an economic side to things. Doesn't mean Florida is handling things perfectly (or even WELL for that matter) but at least Desantis is attempting to handle both (again-NOT saying it's being done well-but tell me wise sages-just what IS the perfect solution????)

Been over Thanksgiving weekend (almost normal times crowds, but EP is a lifesaver for NOT being stuck for hours in queues) and last weekend when things were pretty good-although not the June level empty.

As they have gotten other locations with. People too close, too many people in a location, no mask on, We are in orange county and there is a mask mandate that they must be worn. Law NO Mandate YES. Learn what an individual county has set before jumping to conclusions. They have already fined restaurants and other entertainment centers because of the mandate.

We just got back from a trip to Universal over the MLK holiday weekend and the parks were extremely crowded.
It was impossible to maintain social distancing anywhere within the park as walkways were shoulder to shoulder and most guests did not respect the signage in queues.
Wait times for attractions surpassed 100 minutes.

I don't know about weekends, but it seems that weekdays have seen a massive decrease in attendance now that the "buy a day, get the rest of the year" passes have expired. Granted, this is a slow period anyway, but the park looked like it did last summer.

We were down for MLK weekend, but we stuck strictly to Disney parks. Our last trip to Universal in September was all I needed to see. Jammed with little to no organization. We let our Universal AP's expire.

What are anybody's thoughts about Mardi Gras opening day on Sat the 6th? Anybody thinking it could reach anywhere near capacity for that Saturday? I'll be there starting the 5th. Not really worried about the Friday. Just trying to gauge how early to get there that Saturday. I'm expecting it to be crowded. More worried about getting in.

Anything is possible, but considering it's not a full-fledged Mardi Gras event with parades & concerts, I would expect a relatively mild turnout.

Are they still claiming "35% capacity"? Because there's just no way in hell. Parks are an absolute jam-packed, uncontrolled disaster and it's not even true Spring Break yet.

Got an AP email from Uni yesterday. Just basically putting me on notice that they expect crowds the next couple of weeks and they expect capacity closings. That’s basically all it said.

Yes, I received the same email. Basically telling AP's that "Universal will be accepting all of the Disney overruns and the spring breakers and jamming them into our park."
Why don't they give AP's the option of making a reservation and giving them first right to admission ? I guess anyone else's money is just as good as ours.

We were just down for five days and we didn't go to Universal. I feel like I'm wasting my AP, but I'm hoping by the end of 2021 they have Horror Nights and if Disney opens more capacity perhaps Universal crowds will lessen.

The park's gonna hit (Universal's laughably too high) capacity every day until at least Sunday. I can't believe they didn't create a reservation system by now. Imagine putting up with the situation they create at the beginning of the day, doing everything suggested, and still not getting in.
