Unit tours/viewings

Let me start this by saying that I have not seen a DVC presentation, nor have I viewed the dvd, but I was wondering, is there a way that you can physically visit units that are available at the different DVC resorts? Before I begin to seriously consider DVC, I would really like to get a feel for what each of the resorts offers, and which feels most like "home" to me and my family.

Yes, (kinda) they have demo rooms set up at SSR and you can schedule a meeting/showing. They even came and picked us up at POP in a DVC van and took us over. They have light snacks/drinks while you wait and they take you around and explain things and show you the demo rooms (AKL/BLT) after they will sit down with you and go over options and prices. At the end you get ice cream :slurp: and they even gave us a instant fastpass card good for three fastpasses for our time. We ended up using it for TSM after they already gave out all the passes for the day :D

P.S. I recommend asking for Aldemar Ramirez. He is the one that met with us and was awesome.

Just to add a little more info to the prior post, the official sales center (or "preview center") is located at Saratoga Springs. If you schedule the tour in advance, they will send a van to pick you up at basically any location on Disney property and will then drop you off after the tour. If you're a detailed trip planner, you can use the free transportation to really make the most of your time. For instance, you could have them pick you up at a theme park around 2pm...plan on about 2 hours for the tour...and then have them drop you off at your hotel just in time to get freshened-up for dinner.

Last I heard, at the sales center they have mock-up rooms of Bay Lake Tower and Animal Kingdom Villas. I know they are working to add a model of Aulani (Hawaii), but couldn't say for certain if either the BLT or AKV model is being dismantled to make room.

They also can show you a Saratoga Springs room, obviously.

Aside from that, they hold afternoon sales presentations at the Bay Lake Tower itself. These meetings are conducted 3-4 days per week. Inquire at any of the DVC sales desks to get the schedule or sign-up.

There is also a model room open to the public on the BoardWalk. This is a very informal setting where visitors can simply walk in and take a look around. There will be a Disney Cast Member present but he/she is not an official salesperson and really cannot answer many questions. Their job is to get you to sign up for the formal tour at Saratoga Springs.

Those are the formal touring options available. Obviously you could visit any resort on your own simply by driving over or taking a bus. But as a practice, DVC will not take you on a whirlwind guided tour of all of the resorts. Bay Lake Tower, Animal Kingdom, Saratoga and Aulani are the resorts actively selling now so that's where their efforts are directed.
