UNI vacation

Hm. That ride must really get to you. It used to bother me, hasn't since they updated the ride profile.

Same here. First time I rode it back in early 2011, it made me pretty nauseous (like Star Tours tends to do). I don't know if it's the brighter screens or less simulated movement, but I'm not fazed when I ride it these days.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey uses vehicles like those at Sum of All Thrills but on a track. It is intense and even when I take some motion sickness medicine the room is still spinning ever so slightly.
Weeelllllll, I guess that answers my question on whether I go on the ride. Think I will go thru queue and hear about it from hubby. I will only be in UNI for a couple of days and I don't want to have side effects. I went on MS twice and even the tamer one got me. Thanks.

Could someone tell me if HP the actual ride is like Soarin at WDW or like ET at UNI or something you could compare it too? I was looking on youtube and the two films I watched were kinda dark. I am sitting and being moved all around?

I rode it in December 2012, and by no stretch of the imagination would I compare it to Soarin'. I LOVE Soarin' precisely because it is so calm and smooth. FJ is not calm and it is not particularly smooth. It's amazing but it was very intense. I did get a tad nauseated and wouldn't have wanted to ride it a second time in a row, but I'm glad I experienced it. I would more likely compare it to Spiderman than Soarin' or ET, both of which are good rides for non-thrill seekers. To give you an idea of my tolerance level for comparison purposes, I enjoy RnRC but not Everest because I like speed but not drops.
I went on MS twice and even the tamer one got me.

I had no problem on MS Green.

I've tried Dramamine but it did not work for me. Thinking about asking the doctor if there is something else? Thanks.....for suggestion.
Benadryl works wonders for motion sickness- except if you get the side effect of drowsiness :( I take mine with a double espresso from Starbucks :D

BTW- I LOVE FJ, but it messes me up for a good 30 minutes. But it's SOOOOOO worth it!

God bless the "Ignore" button.
As long as a coaster does not do a loop, I am fine. I was on a coaster in BG Virginia a while back. And I remember being upside down and looking at the sky. I remember my feet above me and that was it for me.... those loops.... Simulator rides are as bad. Body Wars that was at WDW got me. When I go on Star Tours at WDW, I don't look at the screen. I look at something within the cabin. Forget MS at WDW. I sit outside.
When you see Rip Ride Rockit, it looks like it loops, but you're never actually inverted. Just so you know.
The idea of Potter, Spider-Man, and Transformers is tough, though, because they're not simulators, but they strongly feature simulator elements. Especially Potter, which is literally the best ride in the world...

It's sorta like a combination of those two rides.

It's a combination of simulation screens (like the one in Soarin') and physical sets (like those in ET). You start with your vehicle traveling through a physical set of the inside of Hogwarts, then you move to a screen that simulates flying around the outside of Hogwarts, then move to a physical set, followed by another screen, etc.
The part of the ride that your vehicle travels through a physical set, can I do that part and then leave the ride and not get on the flying around Hogwarts part?

I suggest Dramamine and a high carb (pasta) meal about 2 hours before hitting the rides more prone to motion sickness. It would be a shame to go to Universal and not see the headliners. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man, and Transformers: The Ride 3D are truly top shelf attractions but they move. They aren't Disney non-ride rides.

What does the pasta do?
