Unhappy Customer

JUST RETURNED FROM OUR 2nd DISNEY WORLD TRIP IN A MONTH. 1st TRIP FROM SEPT 7 THRU SEPT 11 WITH ONE SET OF GRANDKIDS, 2nd TRIP FROM OCT. 6 THRU 10th WITH ANOTHER SET OF GRANDCHILDREN. FIRST TRIP WE STAYED AT THE ALL STAR MUSIC RESORT, WE TOOK THREE ROOMS FOR 4 NIGHTS. THE ROOMS WERE ADEQUATE BUT IT WAS OVER 1/4 MILE FROM ROOMS TO THEME PARK BUSSES. WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THEME PARKS IT IS OVER 1/4 MILE TO PARK ENTRANCE IN MOST CASES (ESPECIALLY EPCOT). PERHAPS MANAGEMENT THINKS WE ALL NEED TO WALK AN EXTA MILE IF WE WISH TO STAY AT ONE OF THEIR ECONOMY RESORTS (1/4 MILE TIMES 4). DURING OUR VISIT WE NOTED THAT SEVERAL ATTRACTIONS WERE CLOSED AND SOME OTHERS BROKE DOWN FREQUENTLY. A GLARING DIFFERENCE FROM OUR PREVIOUS TRIPS (AT LEAST 100 WITH OUR CHILDREN AND NOW WITH OUR GRANDCHILDREN) WAS THE ATTITUDE OF THE DISNEY EMPLOYEES. WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT PATENTED DISNEY SMILE AND EFFICIENCY? WE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS DID NOT SEEM TO BE MAINTAINED AS USUAL AND THE EXPECTED CLEANLINESS OF THE BATHROOM FACILITIES WAS LACKING.

WE HAD ALREADY PROMISED OUR SON AND HIS CHILDREN A SECOND TRIP IN OCTOBER ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. WE DECIDED TO STAY OFF PROPERTY AND I WAS ABLE TO GET ACCOMODATIONS AT THE PEABODY IN ORLANDO FOR THE SAME PRICE PER ROOM AS ONE OF DISNEY'S ECONOMY RESORTS, THIS IS A REAL FOUR STAR HOTEL AND IT IMPROVED OUR EXPERIENCE (1 MILE LESS WALKING PER DAY) ALTHOUGH ON OUR LAST DAY DISNEY RAISED THE PARKING FEE FROM $8 TI $9. THE ONE MONTH DIFFERENCE REALLY SHOWED, NOW THE BEAUTIFUL ROSE GARDENS AT EPCOT WERE MOSTLY DEAD AND RAGGED, ALSO NOTICED THE BEAUTIFUL TOPIARIES VISIBLE FROM THE MONORAIL SYSTEM ARE GONE AND THE GROUNDS IN GENERAL ARE NOT NEARLY AS WELL MAINTAINED. THERE WAS A VERY NOTICEABLE SHORTAGE OF STAFF AND MANY OF THE STAFF NOT ONLY DID NOT SMILE BUT WERE ACTUALLY SURLY. MANY STAFF MEMBERS WERE DRESSED SLOPPILY AND GROSSLY OVERWEIGHT (PERHAPS MANY WERE OVERWORKED AND UNDERPAID). MANY ATTRACTIONS WERE SHUT DOWN FOR REPAIRS.

THIS TRIP WAS A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. (DO YOU KNOW A WEBSITE WHERE I CAN TRADE SEASONAL PASSES FOR 1 DAY PASSES AT SEAWORLD OR UNIVERSAL?) I CANNOT SEEM TO FIND AN E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR DISNEY MANAGEMENT BUT AS A LONG TIME DISNEY CUSTOMER MY FAMILY AND I WILL NOT BE RETURNING FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

MAYBE MICHAEL EISNER WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY OF HIS RIDICULOUSLY HIGH SALARY?

Isn't it disgraceful that you have to walk around when you get there? I thought they provided magic carpets for everyone? And why didn't they reverse a bus up to this family's room every morning? How inconsiderate.

I think we are all missing the point a bit in this thread. Let's all stop trying to put them right and persuade them that things are not that bad. Let's support them in their view that everything Disney is crap. That way there might be a few less a##holes wandering about next time some of us decent people want to go.

I am sorry to hear about the disppointments you and your family had on your recent trip(s) to Disney. I have to say that I have visited Disneyworld many, many times over the years and have never faced the type of problem you described. I was there 3 months ago and the Disney employees could not have been nicer or more helpful. I do hope that the change with Michael Eisner being gone now has not affected things, but I do think you should chalk it up to a bad day(s) and realize that these are human beings too who do an outstanding job pretty much 100% of the time. And as far as being overweight is concerned, that really should be a non issue to you. Lighten up and enjoy the wonderful place that Disneyworld is!! And write a letter to Disney if you feel a need to vent.

I think its pretty clear this guy is just out to flame Disney and really has no interest in this board. I don't know if he's trying to squeeze from free stuff out of them with slander or just had a bad time and is venting but either way I doubt this guy will be back for more than just to check THIS post.Bye Stan:wave:

Stan is funny
I can think of a few other adjectives...

Stan is a miserable person and I feel sorry for his family. How terrible it must be to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation only to spend the time and money looking for things to complain about.

Stan obviously has insecurities within himself to find the need to complain about dirty bathrooms and rotting foliage, not to mention people who are overweight. I am sure that Stan's bathroom is immaculate and every square inch is clean enough to eat off of, his lawn is perfect and flawless, and he, his wife and children aren't the least bit out of shape in any way. I only hope to God that his children never gain weight to the point of being "overweight"... I am sure Stan would tell them that they don't deserve to and are too unsightly to work, too. Shame on you for being so closed-minded.

I've never in all of my 22 years of trips seen (or noticed) the insignificant things you have mentioned.

Do us all a favor and find someplace else to vacation.

You're actually pointing out the fact that Disney employees are overweight as a PROBLEM?! Who the heck are you? Do you think they should be blowing sunshine up your butt every day of your trip? Newsflash buddy, they make like $6.50 an hour to  your behind everyday? NOO. They are there to do a job and get a paycheck. I don't know why some of you yahoos think that people should be bending over backwards to make your trip the most amazing experience of your lives. I think you should focus on doing that for yourself. Maybe if you were paying more attention to having fun with your grandkids and less attention to the attitudes of cast members you would have enjoyed yourself more. You sound like a bitter angry old man to me. :hammer:

Unfortunately, Stan is probably no longer frequenting these boards as he lost his love for Disney. I always look at the glass as half full....I GET to go to WDW almost every year. I GET to stay on property. I GET to stay for a week or longer. So when the infrequent unpleasant CM happens along or something isn't up to Disney standards, it's not a big deal. I just feel so fortunate to be a vacation, any vacation...and I feel even more fortunate to spend vacation at WDW.

WOW. As a past cast member, that kind of stings a little to read that and know someone out there doesn't appreciate what we do every single day.

Then on the other hand, what's one guest when there's thousands of happy ones?

And I'm not even commenting on the overweight point he brought up. ... I lied. I am. I think that's the ruddest, most inconsiderate comment to make about people who do their best to go out of their way to make guests smile. The end.

I have never encounter a mean CM and even if I did, I am at Disney, I am on vacation and no one is going to ruin my good time :D I know that some people wait all year to go on vacation, they save, they plan and sometimes the vacation turns bad, things don't go their way or it does not live up to the expectations, but that is life, just laugh it off and try to have a good time and make the best of it, you only live once, why live miserable.

Wow......I guess I should be written up for bodacious ta-tas. I'll have to ask my boss what he thinks of this......(my husband is CEO). Commenting on overweight cast members, is like commenting on elderly cast members (who I think have an important role of spreading the magic), ugly cast members, etc. I guess this person thinks he's Robert Redford or Paul Newman, and he must be married to a Cindy Crawford looking girl.....My oh my, he must think beauty IS what is on the outside.......think of how much he's missed out on in life....:(

Stan, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
I can not believe you wasted your entire vacation and I am sure ruined the vacation for the others in your group by pointing out and complaining about such stupid little things. GET A LIFE!!!
Hubby and I were at WDW oct. 4th - 9th and I did not notice any of the issues you complained about. Yes, there are problems with the rides breaking down sometimes but, it happens, get over it, move on to another ride!
As for the "overweight" CM's that ruined your vacation. I'm sure they did not realize that such a FINE specimen of fitness and beauty was in their presence! Next time maybe they will suck that gut in when you walk by so as not to offend your perfect eyes!:hurl: Oh and if walking a 1/4 of a mile was such a problem I think maybe your not in such great shape either. Next time STAY HOME!!!
Sorry to anyone else reading this post, I just had to vent!
Stupid people like Stan pi$$ me off!
