Ungodly Crowds at DLR

Disneyland Resort has been setting new attendance records left and right over the holidays, with the resort recently breaking the 100k mark between the two parks, and Disneyland being forced to shut its gates for a couple of hours yesterday.

It should be noted that it is mainly Disneyland that has been the source of overcrowding. In fact, Disney has been forced to offer one-day tickets to DCA that become park hoppers to Disneyland after 4PM to relieve some of the stress. In effect, DCA has become an overflow park for Disneyland during the holiday season. It seems to be working, as DCA has had it's busiest days of the year thanks to the special offer, and Disneyland has been able to prevent numerous lockdowns this week thanks to the offer.

It is going to be interesting to see the numbers for the remainder of the season.

Maybe, with increased crowds at Disneyland, officials may be keen to add another major ride to *ahem* handle the traffic flow *ahem* . (How's that for an excuse!)
:D :D :D

Unfortunately, I was in DL on the 30th and "unGodly" is a very accurate description of the types of crowds onhand. And yes, I kind of knew better. For the last few years, it seems as if Disney pushes the envelope for guest capacity during the week after Christmas--even gets reported on the local news. And as a local Angeleno, we were conflicted about going. Basically, it was my sis-in-law's request to go, knowing that we know how to get through this park better than most. So family from out of town won.
Fast Pass got us onto five rides and we took full advantage of the 2 hour lag for the next FP rule, being that we had 4 hours for PotC return time and 2 1/2 for HM. Indy, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and, surprise of surprises, Star Tours Fast Passes were gone by 5:30.

Longest lines we endured were for Dumbo and IASW Holiday version 45 and 50 minutes respectively. But stand-by times for Space Mountain reached 200 minutes. Splash had 120 minutes. Haunted Mansion was 100 minutes almost all day. And people still got in line for them. Not me, though. No way.

Did 13 attractions plus the Christmas Parade within 12 hours and then we called it a night as Main Street filled to nutzo capacity an hour before fireworks.

All in all, a strangely psychological nutzo day. Fun with the rides and such, but the park was so packed that our psyches got shot just going from place to place. There was absolutely no personal body space anywhere. In fact, we found more peace just by standing in lines (where everyone was at least going in the same direction) than we found in just wandering the park. It was packed elbow to elbow everywhere!

And I'm never, ever doing it again during this time of year unless someone pays me big $$$ to do so. And yep, as I said, I should've known better.

But the family from out of town had fun, so I guess it was kind of worth it.

 Wow, I went on Thanksgiving and I thought THAT was bad; sounds like this was even worse! It was insanely packed on Thanksgiving too though, two hour waits on major attractions. Crazy! I thought everyone would be home eating turkey, but NO WAY! Guess everyone else thought the same thing.

we went for the New Years eve celebration there,, I couldn't believe the number of people there.. couldn't even walk around without being in a crowd.. they closed the trams to and from the parking lot structure as there were too many people. (1145 until 0145)..
