Hey guys, im wondering where the big 80ft drop is on Expedition Everest? I was under the impression its that drop right after you see the projection of the Yeti but from the ride videos I have seen it certainly doesnt look like a big drop at all so Im wondering am I wrong and is the 80ft drop someplace else? I need to know because I want to ride Everest but im affraid to go on it because I have a fear of big drops!

I believe you are correct that the drop is after the projection of the Yeti. The reason it does not look that bad is because Everest is not your typical rollercoaster. The tracks run right over and through the mountain so you do not have that same height feeling like you normally get with rollercoasters.

Nope, you've got the right Idea. Right after you see the yeti Projection. I definately think that you should og on Everest as the drop is only a few seconds long, and the ride in my opinion is worth it, but you may feel differently. Either way, have fun when you go to WDW!

i think i knw how you feel somewhat.

while i dont have a fear of drops, i have an intense dislike of that air-time feeling, which is why youll never ever see me on ToT. however, i can deal with it for coaster drops. to a point.

i dont think i would ride some of the coaster ive seen on travel channel at that park in ohio, too long, too steep.

i have no problems with anything else disney has.

Really? that's probably my favorite part of roller coasters  especially the first time I went on the R'n'RC where that launch sucks you back into the seat and you can feel your stomach just lurch, man I love that, ha ha ha

I've never ridden Splash Mountain? I like rollercoasters, but am not overly fond of drops. I especially hate the slow climb, where you ratchet up, hate it! I've ridden Jurassic Park & Tower of Terror, how does Expedition Everest fair in comparison of actual distance being dropped, & the feeling? I'm assuming you're moving fast when you drop & not just slowely traveling up a hill & then over. If it's no worse than the Jurassic Park drop, I could handle it.

Thanks,
Bryant

Drops typically make me feel sick. The drops on Space Mountain and Primeval Whirl sometimes do. The drop on Splash Mountain does. The drops on Tower of Terror do. The drop on Expedition Everest doesn't.

RnRC i love. i can very much handle, and seem to grvatate (sp) to those type of coaster that hold you in your seat. positive g's?

its the ones where you feel like your coming out of your seat that give me that bad feeling.

I hear ya...

The first time I rode Space Moutain, my hands were sweating (fear of Rollar Coasters)...but I made it and it wasn't bad at all.

Now ToT is bad...hate the drops...but I'm guessing it's like Big Thunder Mountain and Splash combined.

It is Disney...so it probably isn't that bad.

Yeah, thats what I keep telling myself, LOL.

"It's not that bad...it's not that bad...." :lookaroun

But seriously, I look at every fricken picture I can find and I totally analyze the drop. I ask my husband constantly..."it doesn't look that bad does it?". I bet he can't wait until I go on the thing so I'll shutup about it!

Not that big

To calm people's nerves, let me assure you the "big drop" is not that big. It is fun, but not as big a sensation for me as either Splash or Jurassic Park. Those rides, your car is barely moving until it goes over the hill, then its all acceleration. On this ride, you have a little speed after the Yeti projection so the acceleration (and subsuquent stomach sensation) is lessened. Also, the last 20 feet or so of this drop is banked to your left, further reducing the sensation of a pure drop.

In my opinion, the drop is definitely bigger than any on Thunder, slightly bigger than the biggest on WDW Space Mtn, but seemingly smaller ( or at least less sensation) than the hill on Splash - for the reasons I have listed above. It is eefinitely less sensation than the hill on Jurassic Park or, shudder, the scary Ripsaw Falls and its unsafe seating!

Ride it, it is fun but not wild!

Da Drop

My impression was the drop was not shorter but steeper, thus FASTER, (than Splash Mt.). It generates a lot of energy that propels you though the curve and back up into the mountain.

Splash's drop is advertised at 55 feet I most people are quoting EE at 80.

Thank you so much, this is a big help to me. I'm fine with SM, BTMRR, and RnR, but I'm uncomfortable with Splash and I HATED Jurassic Park. I WILL NOT go on ToT, or any other "freefall" type ride. I'm also OK with Primevial Whirl, but no one else in the family will ride it.
