Ughhh Post Trip Depression

Hi,

I stayed at the beach club May 21-28 (over MDW obviously). Fantastic time, as always. We were a little worried about the star wars crowds, but everything worked out fine. Additionally before the trip, they were calling for storms all week, which was worrisome, but in typical Florida fashion it was short showers at most.

This is my first time reading the forums since I returned home, as I've finally began coming out of my post trip shell. I can't help but wonder if I'm in a small minority of 22 year old males who enjoy visiting on a relatively regular basis haha.

At any rate, how does everyone deal with the post trip blues? I guess returning back home to colder, dreary weather does NOT help the cause.

Apologies if I posted in the wrong section, as this has likely been discussed many times before but I'm in the familiar post trip funk!

Side note: If by chance any of you ARE the cute red read head from the Adirondaks that was sitting at the storm along bay table next to my family, please feel free to message me. I was embarrassingly shy ha!

Shookie..Im going in September (Im typing this in the most non pompous way possible):D

Not bad..tough not to put 16 exclamation points after it...isn't it?

I'm doing this only for the sake of example, but this the way to NOT do it:

"I'm going to be tearing up WDW - September 26th through October 3rd - Contemporary Resort MK view B*TCHES!!!!!"

There you go...Lesson over. I swear I didn't mean ANY of that.

Hahaha, well played. I'll be avoiding this place on those dates! Kidding. Actually, as I mentioned earlier, we're looking to return in early December (HOPEFULLY), so i'm sure i'll be following along on your trip in preparation. Man, I kind of miss the Contemporary at times. It was the very place I ever stayed at. The rooms are enormous. The beach club, and well, most of the hotels in WDW lack in that aspect. Of course, the object is to not spend time in the room, but still...Plus the new renovations at Contemporary look great.

Yeah we're staying at the CR for the first time. Apparently that was actually my first stay at the World when I was 6 or so. I don't remember any of the room, but I remember the monorail and riding it into the hotel.
ANYWAY - my son has been dying to stay there so we scrimped, saved, ate a lot of macaroni and cheese, sold have of our belongings on ebay and we swung the stay! Should be fun.

Anway can't wait to hear more from your TR (quietly watching from here on out)
Although you did say you might be going back in December so maybe......

Loving your trip report! You've inspired me to write one when I get back... but I don't ever wanna think of that day. It's worse than the day after Christmas. Ugh, hopefully writing with cure my post-disney blues!

Thanks! It's actually been a great way to relive the memories, as I catch myself smiling as I think back at some of the events that happened. Now I'm worried about the post trip report depression ahhhh hahaha.

Day 5: Day 5 was a slower day for us on the whole. We only had EPCOT scheduled, so we planned to sleep in a bit after going hard the past few days. We had breakfast at the concierge ( I don't want turn this into instagram, but I can post those food pictures if anyone wants to see) and walked around a bit before heading to lunch. We had lunch reservations at Via Napoli In Italy. We actually ate here last year, and I thought it was average (Am I coming off as a food snob yet?). This year was worse, in my opinion. If my uncle didn't LOVE eating here, we would probably skip it. Our pizza was burnt, which happens with wood fire pizza ovens, but for the $$ for what you'll see below, it seemed ehhh. Despite all of this, I must say that the service was top notch.

So next we headed over to test track, which we were unable to do last time. Foolishly we probably should've fast passed it earlier, so we ended up with a fast pass return ticket of 6:30, which was ok with us because we had a dinner at Japan scheduled for 7:20 anyway. In the mean time we rode a few more rides and went back to the hotel for an afternoon free time/ swim. The week really cleared up as it went on, and we really got use out of the pool, which was great.

After this, we returned back to epcot to ride test track and head to dinner. I was really interested to see how this new set up worked with the whole create your own car thing. So we return at the designated time to... Wait. Even with the fastpasses, the line did not move as quickly as we anticipated. Making dinner on time was in serious jeopardy. We ended up getting off of test track around 7:10 and made a Usain Bolt esque sprint over to Japan to make our reservation. My younger cousin and I ended up designing a car (read: he designed our car) and this was the outcome:

Surprisingly performed very well, outside of efficiency of course. It could pass anything but a gas station. We won overall best car for our group somehow? Don't ask.

So we finally made our reservation, just in the nick of time and had a great meal. Mostly steak and chicken for us.

Our cook was a great guy. Very funny and personable. I asked him if he cooked for himself when he wasn't working and he said he only uses the microwave haha. He also managed to include the traditional mickey out of various vegetables and onions, which is very clever if you haven't seen before:

So, all in all it was a great meal that ended right as illuminations was beginning, which was perfect timing. I never know the exact best location to watch the fireworks from (is there really a bad spot?) but Japan worked out well. Pretty great vantage points.

So, after an all day epcot extravaganza, thus concludes day 5 as we ventured back to the beach club and ended the night with our customary beaches and cream. Fortunately every male in my family is embarrassingly lanky (I'm 6'3 175) so I could use the extra weight haha.

So this is all for now until day 6 tomorrow, which is in and around the MK and the other resorts. Day 6 is our last day in the parks. Noooooooo.

And so here we are at Day 6, with the trip winding down, and our last day at the parks. :(

Day 6: Overall, this was a hodgepodge of a day, as our only real thing on the agenda was the MK.
photo_zpsfc1c90f0.jpg

Somehow, one of our traditions is becoming a train ride around MK on our last day in the park, which is where this picture is taken. So we basically spent a good portion of our afternoon at the MK, and then headed around the monorail resort loop to check out the hotels and eat dinner at...
image_zps8ef476d8.jpg

.....Not! We grabbed a quick bite in the MK before we left. I'd have to take out a 10 year loan and offer up my first born to afford what's behind those doors. I do enjoy wandering around the Grand Flo, as we've never stayed there. Additionally, those new DVCs look like something else. I'd love to eventually get a look at the rumored sand bottom pool.

So after all of this, we ventured over to epcot for a one final visit and few more rides before calling it a complete wrap in the parks.
image_zps5ccb6d54.jpg

And OF COURSE we needed one final soarin' ride, as its my dads favorite.

(You knew I had to eventually show you the picture of my feet hanging over the golden gate, right?)

So we said our final goodbyes to epcot and decided to be lazy and take the boat back to the hotel for the rest of the night. We had our last dip in the pool, and last bit of beaches and cream before calling it another successful Disney vacation.

Thus brings day 6 to a close. It wasn't the most eventful day, but it was a nice relaxed place to draw our trip to a close.

Thank you to everyone who has followed along/ read my report. I'm glad I went through with it after all. Felt great to get it off my chest. I regret not planning ahead as some of these pictures are poor quality, but i'll do a better job for the next trip. Until next time!......
