Is it just me, or is the amount of time I watch TV going down? There are no good shows on anymore. The new episodes from shows I used to enjoy are nothing but crap. This was a very dry movie season. The only main movies that were actually good this summer were just Shrek 2 and Spider Man 2. No good songs have been comming out from performing artists. Nothing. No really big hits. Anyone else notice these things? I think I'm going to die of boredom!!!! :(

Too much TV makes you impotent.

Actually, I felt the same way the past couple of years, but I'm actually finding a couple of things that I like now that are new. "Hawaii" is a new cop show, but as opposed to most of the shows that I find to be rehashing of things, this has a nice and different flavor to it, so I like it. I'm also enjoying "Father of the Pride" which is a DreamWorks project that is pretty funny. There are a couple of others I might give a chance, but still, not as much as I used to watch.

Just last night I was sitting here at home all alone... hubby was still at work, and the 3 kids were off doing their own thing... and I picked up the t.v. remote & looked at the channel guide, and there was NOTHING I wanted to watch. Maybe when the fall season gets back in to full swing there will be something worth while watching again.

I have to admit that more and more I'm gravitating towards reality shows.

My darkest secret is that I am a hugh "Survivor" fan.

I also am really getting into "Amish in the City." I am trying to guess which of the Amish kids will go back home and which will not.

Of course, I love "Airplane."

I find myself being drawn into nearly anything on A&E, especially the true crime stuff--"Cold Case Files," Investigative Reports," "Forensic Files," etc.

My 16 year old is seriously addicted to anything on National Geographic. You never know what you'll find, but it appeals to testosterone-poisoned youth. Animals eating each other, men with anacondas wrapped around their necks, primitive societies and their rituals, ancient civilizations, etc.

I agree with you in terms of television...

However, some really great movies came out over the summer. We may be in a lull now (before the Holidays, after the summer), but the cinema has really impressed me for the past couple of months.

Collateral, Garden State, Harold and Kumar, and SAVED!, were all wondeful.

As an employee of the local CBS affiliate, let me say --- CBS RULES!!! :)

Now that I have that out of the way... broadcast television is desperately missing quality sitcoms. I would love to see more of those.

Other than that I my wife and I have gotten into Monk, Amazing Race and Last Comic Standing. We watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the first time the other night and were pleasantly surprised.

I forgot to add...

All major network television is complete garbage. I haven't watched it in quite some time (excluding news of course;))

I have to agree....I find myself watching television not as often as I used to. The only shows that I will really watch anymore are WWE RAW, South Park, SportsCenter, and Will and Grace. However, I have seen some commercials for some new shows that look good....LAX and Lost actually look intersting to me.

My opinion on new music is the same....last year, there was a popular new song out almost every week! Now it's going by slow....I am still listening to Overnight Celebrity all the time. :lookaroun

Now about the movies....I thought the 2004 movie season was one of the best yet. I saw 20 movies in June and July alone, and I was pleased with most of them. I also have found the films that are coming out during this slow season to be very good....Without A Paddle was very underrated.

More and more, I find that I have the tv on more for background noise and force of habit than anything else. Don't get me wrong, there are shows I won't miss, like Survivor, Apprentice, Law & Order SVU and CSI (and I want to try and catch the new CSI NewYork) but while I used to spend Thursday nights from 8 to 11 paying attention to my tv, I find that I rarely pay much attention to most of whats on.

I have even lost interest in Queer Eye :( and I always forget to turn on Monk (and now Sharona is leaving :( ) The other night, I had Telemundo on and DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE until someone came in and asked about it! :brick:

The Jury is a really good show. It's different in that the central characters change with every episode. Lost looks really good, and Fear Factor this new season is really intense. However, Survivor: Vauatu starts this Thursday, and I'm expecting the game to be a completely different beast compared to what we are used to. All-Stars was good closer for the first seven seasons. A new Survivor era will begin this week.

I'm really not a fan of reality shows. I do like to watch Everybody Loves Raymond. Actually, I've found myself reading a lot more lately. Just this past summer I read the Dirk Gently series, Inherit the Wind, The Things They Carried (had to for school), and I'm working my way through the full text of Les Miserables. Also, with 18 credit hours, I don't have much time for TV. Of course, I really don't have much time for wdwmagic, but I find oppertunities. :)
