All of you Anti-Southwest people make me giggle...I'm a religious watcher of the show "Airline" on A&E. Sounds like a lot of the people on that show. After watching "Airline" I know to get to the airport and get confirmed EARLY b/c of the overselling issue.

We're taking Airtran in September and our flight time has already changed three times. We have been pushed back to an 8pm arrival from noon:mad: I guess that is one drawback to booking early at least with them. Maybe by waiting a few more weeks the schedule will be more stable and you won't be disappointed like us.

I just went through this with them! We went from a 1:30 PM arrival at BWI (driving to Carlisle, PA) to a 4:30 PM arrival. Great. From early afternoon to the middle of Friday rush hour. We were supposed to check into our hotel in Harrisburg, clean up, and meet The Daughter for dinner in Carlisle, then on to the class "toast" at 9PM.

Well, by the time we got the rental car, fought traffic, got detoured around a hazmat spill  and checked in, it was almost 7PM. We ate a hurried dinner, then went on to the toast. (Which was more of a kegger.)

It worked out in the end, but what should have been a fun, relaxed evening was very harried.

I am waiting to book my flight too, my return date is later than the 12th...no big deal though.

I love Southwest and would prefer to fly with them than any other airline. I have never had a problem with them. They are always friendly and nice. I have had many flights that were actually fun, the pilots and flight attendents making jokes from time to time, making the flight fun.
They are always the cheapest too. I go online and print my boarding pass 24 hours before. That is just my opinion, and experiences, not everyone has the same experiences.

nope, better luck next time. Maybe in a few more weeks they will offer discounts to orlando again. 129 each way is TOO much.. unless they do offer the buddy fares. Do they do that anymore?

I think that people forget that "you get what you pay for."

I took my first flight 35 years ago, and it cost me $400 to fly from RI to Venezuela. That was almost a whole month's take home pay, and almost twice what I was paying in rent every month. I suspect that you could book the same flight for the same amount today, if you shopped around. However, you won't get the hot meal, personalized service, and roomy seat that I had.

I'm flying to RI with my disabled mother for a family wedding. I'm paying $1600 each to fly 1st class, as she could not tolerate what is standard airline travel these days. However, if I'm flying alone, and just want to get from point A to point B ASAP, I'll put up with inconvenience to save money.

I totally agree The Mom.

Which is why i'm a little leery of taking my $1,200 AKL extravaganza budget and turning it into a DLR trip on a dime. So far, it's looking ok. The plane will get me there alive, the hotel will provide a place to sleep - and Disney will keep me safe and happy during park operating hours :)

But you don't have to be part of the lining up to get a good seat. Just get there early enough (not earlier than any other airline, just good airport time) and get an "A" boarding pass. Better yet, print it up online 24 hours in advance. You're automatically one of the first 40 people on the plane, you basically get whatever seats you want, and you don't have to line up.

So, again, I say, if you know Southwest, then there's nothing wrong with it. Every complaint thusfar has been from someone who simply doesn't know how to best utilize the Southwest system....and by the way, it's no secret. All of the info you need is on their website.

I do know you don't have to line up, but you should see the amount of people that do and I know I can get bp 24 hrs ahead for the "A" group, but why should I have to worry about this before or during my vacation. I understand the SW system and how to go about utilization of it. There is nothing actually wrong with it, but the bottom line is "I" do not like it and that is all that counts.

And I don't like paying $400-$600 more for tix, so GOD BLESS SW!
