News UCF Peach Bowl/National Championship Parade

Did you see any “National Champion” banners?.. I wonder if Disney decided to not get involved in that, but still give a well deserved celebration for a perfect season.

I think this is exactly what happened. In all the pictures I have looked through I don't see a single one that was produced by WDW that says anything about a national championship. They acknowledged their great season, not a championship. That is a completely different narrative.

Yep. Disney Parks wrote “Celebrating Orlando’s Hometown Team”.

Thanks makes a lot more sense.

UCF won every game they played, the only game they cancelled was due to Hurricane Irma, which closed Disney World as well. UCF isn't claiming to have won the game Hurricane Irma cancelled.

As it is, Main Street USA is a sea of Black and Gold, people are at the Magic Kingdom to watch the UCF National Championship parade. Do you seriously think in 10 years, when people see the national title banner, it in the record books, pictures of parades celebrating it with a banner and national champion T shirts at Disney World and Downtown, they're going to be questioning it? Of course not, just as we don't question USC's not playing in the championship game and claiming it, and Alabama doing the same another 3 or 4 times, sometimes ranked as low as #20 in the country.

The banner will likely be up, but unless they publish their own record book too, it won’t be in any. Even the Wikipedia page will likely include an entry explaining that they claimed their own national championship.

Dang it I said I was done haha. How was the parade?

I realize you're a homer and feel this incessant desire to defend your team, but are you reading what you wrote? Undefeated against Alabama? Won last matchup with Georgia?
The Alabama game was 18 years ago. The Georgia game was 8 years ago. The players on both current teams weren't even in high school yet. Many for the Alabama game were still in diapers. The fact you have to try to use that as a defense shows the enormous reach you are making. It was humorous though, I actually chuckled when I read that.

Here is where the whole "Auburn" Fallacy comes up- you can't count that as a reason why they should have been in the CFP because they didn't play them before the final rankings came out. So the undefeated record is awesome by any stretch- in particular after a 6-7 season the year before- very surprising. But to call them national champs is ludicrous.

One team in my eyes should even attempt to claim a national champion after not playing in a title game is Auburn back in 2004.
Not 2010 TCU, not 2009 Boise, not Tulane or Marshall back in the 90s, etc. They're all as equally ridiculous. Actually- they're less ridiculous than UCF's because they existed in a time before the CFP.
I mean TCU started 2010 ranked #6/7 in the AP and coaches poll. Then went undefeated for the year- ended up #3. Beat #4 in the Rose Bowl. And they still don't claim a title because they know it's ridiculous.

I have no dog in the fight either- I don't seriously follow any CF team. So I have no homerism or bias here; which you certainly can't claim.

It really boils down to this- the title of this thread is not accurate. Disney didn’t hold a National Champion parade for UCF, as evidenced in their own comments and photos on the parade.
The official NCAA Football social media sites are all talking about “who will be the national champions tonight? Georgia or Alabama?”
None of the major polls have UCF even close to the #1 spot.

The only people calling UCF “National Champs” is their own school giving themselves a false title and self made banner.

My message to UCF- keep winning, play better schools, hope your conference improves, and I hope you’ll make it to the playoffs someday if that happens. Great season, but stop the delusion.
End of story.

UCF is definitely the best non power 5 conference team and they've been good the last few seasons, but seriously, national champions? It's not like they beat Clemson for the natty.

A perfect season against who? High Schools and an Auburn team that obviously didn't care to be there? Come on, seriously though, good season, yes undefeated, but their best win prior to Auburn was Memphis? Get out of here haha. Claiming a National Champion to boot, a bit embarrassing really.

Sorry everyone. The argument is moot now. It’s official. THE authority in college football has weighed in.
