Typhoon Lagoon

MasterBlasters Rock! I've been on two now, one in rubber rings, and the other in a dinghey.

Dinghey's go faster, but rings you loose all control of direction and end up going sideways and backwards round the course.

There is a weight limit on them though (which I can't remember at the moment... possibly 16st), as you won't get round the course if you are heavier than that.

The new area will go back from the Out of the Way Cay area. On the map shown above it is the sandy area outside Castaway Creek on the bottom right just above the main change area.

Though I've been reading rumors about this Typhoon Lagoon addition for months now, I notice that several posting here have never heard of the new ride. Has there been any official statement from the Disney folks that this is really happening, or is this all some leaked info from cast members?

"Doubt it all you want PLTram, I assure you it is underway."

Pictures of trees with ribbons tied around them is not really proof that Disney is building a master blaster water coaster. But honestly, I'm not really doubting you, I just wonder how folks are so sure that they're building a master blaster if there has been no official announcement that that is what is happening over there....

we are certain of just about every expansion WELL before Disney announces them.

They have been planning this for almost five years now. Ask any manager you see at Typhoon and they will gladly tell you about. If they hadnt been spending so much repairing the wave pool over the last few years it would have happened sooner.

I've heard this rumor for a while... in fact I believe it was on this board that I may have read about it. I'm glad that they are now planning on an addition to TL and will be watching closely for details of the new construction.

Has anyone heard a "theme" for the new water coaster or seen any renditions?

I am looking forward to one day going to a Disney water park. The best water park near my house is an hour away in Baton Rouge and doesn't offer many rides. I sure hope this rumor about the master blaster is true!

Woo-hoo! One more thing that I probably won't ever go on. I have the worst luck when I am at water parks, and the worst luck for me has been Typhoon Lagoon, so I pretty much have given up on going to them...

I worked at Typhoon in Spring '03. I posted this expansion a while ago, and when I first heard about it from the GM, there were others saying they heard that the ride would end in a pool that would be connected to the lazy river in Typhoon.

This way, when you finished the blaster, you could continue on in the river or get out at a nearby exit.

I don't know how accurate that rumor is, but it sounds like a GREAT idea! Any thoughts or verification of the (in)accurracy of this rumor?

PS, I lifeguarded in high school at Schlitterbahn (new Braunfels) and then did the college program at Typhoon (and blizzard when it opened from it's seasonal closing) in 2003

I think the theming can (and most likely will) be amazing! While the Schlitterbahn one is cool, Disney has the story-development to make this type of ride an amazing experience.

If Typhoon were to also get a Wave River like Schlitter's Torrent, it would leave Schlitter in the dust!

Also, there hasn;'t been much new development in the last few (5 or so) years at the original Schlitterbah in NB. But there has been the construction of S-Bahn Beach in South Padre (which seems pretty cool ... I haven't been yet) and a new S-Bahn going in Galveston soon....

I just hope they don't let their flagship in NB fall in comparison to the new parks.

I think Screamscape posted about the Masterblaster dumping into a Torrent River ( http://www.nbgsintl.com/main/wave_systems.htm ), which is made by the same company.

I'm wondering what type of MB this will be....

ie: Lift Hill (whilst riding) or Dinghey Conveyer or carry the boats up yourself

-and-

One Person Dinghey, Two Person Dinghey, or Team Raft?
